I don't know how it is at other schools but the girls and boys teams at BC are really tight. The amount of support they give to each other at games is quite remarkable. I guess I'm comparing it to our basketball teams and baseball/softball teams. The comradre with them is nowhere close.

magnets program is similar to BC's

If you are considering "support" to be the boys team chanting "Riverside...garbage" during the introductions, "I smell a d**che bag" or "The ref s**cks bull p*****" during the game (among the other derisive name callings), you could do with a little less support.

Seems a shame to have that take away from such a well fought and well played game on the part of the B-C ladies.

Of all the fans yesterday, BC's were the worst. Ugly nick-names just do not have a place in soccer. I'm sure your team is embarrassed to hear them while they are fighting hard on the field.

Sorry your precious little Sally got upset when people threw sticks and stones at her [Frown] . But hey, enjoy your medal!

Unfortunately when you have large numbers of teenagers at an event like that, things like that happen. I'll definitely voice my concerns to our school officials about choice of words but would not discourage their enthusiasm. There was much more excitement/energy from our fans and I believe our girls fed off of that in the second half.

The point of this topic was the support the two teams (boys & girls) give to each other. Almost all the boys were there and a good majority of them would have traveled to other parts of the state to watch them play. Girls would have done the same. I don't see that in other sports. I know Riverside had to travel further but I thought there would have been more fans there.

Congrats to Riverside for winning the state.

P.S. I know that parents need to learn some code too. Ours and many others.

BCSoccerDad you hit the nail on the head. I would agree that the enthusiasm should remain. It was the foul language that was disappointing. First time I have been to a game during which the PA announcer had to warn folks that continued obscene language would result in removal. It was disappointing to see/hear all of that going on behind the coach and not see the coach turn around and caution the fans to keep it clean.

As to the support for Riverside, keep in mind that the boys team had a practice at the same time as the girls game. Seems they have a title game this afternoon. I would expect the girls team, and not a few parents, will be there in force.

Again, congrats to the Lady BearCats for a tough, well fought match. Good luck next year.

I forgot they played today. Sorry about that.

Onegirlsdad-Although I was walking in during the introductions I didn't hear any "Riverside's Garbage" in the middle of that. And refering to the other two statements that were made the first was in reference to the Riverside fans that decided to stand directly behind the students and chant obscene cheers as well. And the third was never said. I heard no reference to the ref "s**cks bull p*****", the only thing i heard was "the ref s**cks" which in my opinion was not too far from the truth. And as some Riverside players were walking out of the stadium a group of young men that were in that crowd congratulated them and told them that they were very good and good luck next year. That's just my 2 cents though...

Centermid06 I sat next to the B-C crowd throughout the game. I didn't make up the things that were said. The Riverside fans you refer to were limited to three young men who in fact sat to the left side of the crowd and yelled absolutely nothing of the sort. They in fact yelled "Go Riverside". The DVD that I bought, complete with sound, reiterates my memories. I would be glad to host a screening, sans video for your listening pleasure.

In any event, the poor exhibition of sportmanship from the B-C youth crowd in no way detracted from the spirited play of the B-C Lady BearCats. It in fact had no effect on the Riverside players either. However, as a paying participant I found it distasteful and without exception unnecessary. Cheer your team, boo the other team, but leave the obscenities at home.

Centermid, the three young men was myself, and two of my buddies. We just arrived into Stone Field and Riverside tied up the game right as we were passing the BC student section, making the game 2-0. We started chanting, "Go Riverside" as it has been said on the DVD. We then were trying to find where to sit since we had no idea that there was going to be a limited prescence of the Riverside student body. Then a BC official/teacher came up to us and asked us to leave the section, otherwise he claimed he would call the "police". I guess Stone Field does not allow for one to chant for his/her highschool. Then the BC crowd started chanting "I smell D***bags".

My three friends then went to sit at the limited Riverside section where we watched the Warriors pull in a victory. It's all on DVD, as stated by members here on the board, Centermid. Stop trying to make the Riverside Fans look like they bring a bad name to the school, when in fact the BC fans made themselves looked like the ones with a bad name.
