And to answer my own question from a while back.... Chester and AC Flora did not play thier game back before spring break- not enough refs showed up, hence no game and no score to report.

The wife says you're holding her back from scoring more goals. Something about "the coaching knowledge of a three legged mule". I'm trying to defend your good name as much as possible.
I'm trying to teach her to play well with others, she did have a few assists. But then again she is stubborn as a mule.

My understanding....

Fort Mill beats Clover on PK's after a scoreless game.
correct FM 1 Clover 0 in PK's
BD understands correctly...
At Clover:
Fort Mill 1, Clover 0 on PKs. PKs went through 7 shooters each side, score 4-3 FM.

Clover played very well without Rachael Newminster. They were set up to shut down FM and counter when possible. There always seemed to be one more defender in the way whenever FM tried to get going. Shots were 6-1 (FM) in the first half, but 6-6 in the second. FM was able to return the favor and shut down Clover's counters in the second half.

Nothing happened in OT. PKs went as follows: Widenhouse (C) made, Parker (FM) made, Pantuosco (C) saved by McLaine, Singleton (FM) saved by Barton, Eaton (C) made, McDonald (FM) made, Forehand (C) missed, Sheets (FM) saved by Barton, Allen (C) made, Wilson (FM) made, Antunes (C) saved by McLaine, Whitman (FM) saved by Barton, Hollander (C) missed, Wilden (FM) made.

Fort Mill will be handing region 3 over to Clover one of these days, and it may be as soon as next year. Not a pleasant thought when your daughter is only a sophomore, but Clover will only get better. FM, unfortunately will continue to dilute their talent across two high schools, with a third in the wings. That's just the way it goes

Dang, Dale. That was close.
The Stud broke loose somewhere around the 65th minute. Coach Fryland and company were wonderful host and even gave us some extra cups for water. Hate losing, but enjoyed watching both teams play and being treated well as guest.
The JV's did not get to play as our coach and bus driver, David Mihoulides, was in the hospital. Say a prayer for him and his family for us.

At James Island:

Berkeley 2
James Island 5

An injury-riddled Berkeley defense got off to a wavering start against a very well-coordinated JI attack. JI has an offense you can't afford to hesitate against, and we did just that, leaving James Island up 4-0 at the half. A little halftime resolve-strengthening had the Lady Stags digging deep in the second half, with freshman Chelsey Holloway digging a ball off the endline to turn it into goal at the last second, breaking the ice for Berkeley. A collision in the box led to a Berkeley PK converted by junior Kayla Barwick. The finesse vs. determination battle stalemated until the final minutes, when JI converted a corner kick to score the last goal of the match.

Proud of my girls for digging deep and finding the back of the net for a 2-1 second half...now if we can just eliminate the 0-4 first half! :-) JI has a very talented squad--my compliments for a game well-played!
TL Hanna 2 Greenwood 0
Goals by Summer Miller and Molly Harpe. Clean sheet by Kendall Maxwell and the whole defensive unit. Good hard fought game with a little edge to it. I liked it.
No my bad I had just heard she got a hat trick. But I heard she said one of her shots was deflected by Miller. Sorry
Miller is a stud and a great kid as well as an athlete!!! Glad she's having so much success and helping make things work in the midfield.

You know what keeps CJ smiling? Miller's younger sisters are as good , if not better, than she is.
That family has some character and talent! Hard to find Summer when she's not smiling - and her sisters too! I hear it's all from the mom, though

Greenville vs. Pickens has been postponed to Tuesday 4/22 at 5:30 pm.
Word has it that the Nation Ford AD has cancelled tonight's match with Fort Mill. Wimps! So it's a little cold with some drizzle? This is perfect Taco Bell Viking Cup weather! We play in this every February!
just got back from picking up dinner. at westminister catawba it is guest 1-home 0 with 17 left in the first half.all this in a monsoon.
It's 7:30. My daughter and the rest of the Fort Mill varsity are at practice...outside...about 45F, but not raining...sigh...
Just got home from girls' varsity practice...slightly chilly, light mist here and there, a few puddles left from last night's monsoon. All in all a perfect mudball practice.

The boys' practice was canceled.

Goals were by Alex Bishop, Caroline Callison, and Morgan Riddle.

Congratulations to Emerald’s defense for only allowing three goals in eight games. They are Alma Gonzales, Katherine Serrano, Allison Stelling, Nicole Upton, and Goalkeeper Rachel Baggett. It is truly a team effort in the back and you ladies have done a great job.
the players in the back do not get enough love, excepet the keep. great job ladies - a team on D is hard to deal with

Airport scored first on a goal from Erin Gray. My girls at Ben Lippen played a great game!! Excellent win over Cardinal Newman. To add to the stats above, Sammi Osman contributed one assist and Anne Armstrong added 8 saves in goal. Ben Lippen is 3-2 in region play after beating St. Joseph's and Cardinal Newman, 2 top 5 teams in SCISA, this week. Congratulations on an excellent job ladies! You played great and I'm so proud! Cardinal Newman played a great game with a very talented and young team. They will continue to be a top team in the years to come.

Match called early due to lightning. 5-0 at half. Second half played mostly for grins Some FM starters never played. Regular keeper Alexis McLaine played forward. Reserve keeper Hattie Ruch touched the ball once, not long before the match was called. Even RH pulled regular keeper Maggie Rogers out so she could play forward in the second half, and put co-captain Jackie (I've never played keeper before!) Alexander between the pipes. Fun time had by all.
DF 0 Chapin 1
South Aiken 2 Aiken 1

0-0 half

After Aiken had a fair amount of the play in the 1st half, South Aiken came out to play in the 2nd. A superb, diving, one handed, one-on-one save by Madison Lightbody kept the game tied & then South Aiken scored first with about 20 minutes left on an excellent corner kick (header I think). Then Ellen Bryan scores from way out on a 30 feet in the air desperation shot that just goes under the crossbar. With 7 minutes to play, Maggie Bosley beats the defense almost goes on one on one with the keeper & shoots as she fights off an Aiken defender. The keeper saves the ball that was ripped right at the keeper. PK was awarded. I yelled too much. Maggie scored. Maybe Coach Young can give you more info. I've never been more disappointed in an officials call in 15 years of high school soccer and have only been the benefit of one such call (many years ago against Lexington in the playoffs but my player was never even able to get a shot off). Apologize for the sour grapes b/c South Aiken girls are great kids.

Rivalry games are fun and can easily even the odds b/t teams. Scary game. Ron and Co. pulled up some of that previously mentioned magic and made it a grudge match. No comment on the pk as I complain against every call against us and love every one for us. I did learn tonight that Aiken High can play with anyone.
At Berkeley:

Berkeley 2
Goose Creek 0

Good, hard, physical play from two teams who both wanted the win. I think we saw some kind of record set tonight with 6 consecutive corner kicks alternating sides of the field; think I have a few more gray hairs after that one!
Kudos to Chapin! Beating Irmo and DF and Swansea (in ot) and a close one to Lexington - well done! They'll only get more consistant under her eye and hot come playoff time!
Congratulations to Berkeley in their win over the creek. Who scored the goals and who had the shut out? (You can reply in 3 different posts to get that goal!)
Thanks! Kudos to the Creek as well...they came to play, and play hard they did. It's also good to see their numbers way up from a team that almost didn't have enough to play a couple of years ago. I offered to carry over an extra bench if they wouldn't all fit on what we had! Looks like the GC program is experiencing a revival, and it's good to see.

Goals for Berkeley were both scored by senior Emily Carter. This is only Emily's second year playing, and she's made great strides in a short time. Hard to believe it was just over a year ago when she got furious because someone hit her nice clean shirt with a muddy ball at practice! The goals were definitely a team effort; much-improved ball movement and placement not only by fellow senior Katie Black, but a host of freshmen and sophomores who continue to impress me.

Shutout (accompanied, according to Coach Blair, by some "mad ninja skills") was by junior Katelyn Harnage.
Oh, and so nobody feels left out...credit for the shutout has to be shared with a hard-digging back line consisting of junior sweeper Kayla Barwick and ouside defenders, senior Kat Motte and first-year-player/sophomore Caroline Smith. There are more players I could call out, and deserve to be, but enough name-dropping for one match...the rest of you want your names up in lights, you'll have to keep impressing me for the next post!
South Aiken vs. Aiken
Cross town rivalry matches are the best. Aiken is a small community so players and parents from both teams know each other, have played soccer together for years, and will probably be attending church together on Sunday. Bragging rights within the community were on the line so a lot of heart was put into the match by both teams. I think that is why the pk that was awarded was such a tough pill to swallow. It just wasn’t how anyone wanted the outcome of that match to be determined. I thought Ellen Bryan’s goal was amazing and am impressed with her passing and movement of the ball. South Aiken is a very good team and has some speed up top.
Final score South Aiken 2 – Aiken 1.
That was an impressive goal!
havent been to many games but did see the aiken. was worried in 1st half but i heard sa is playing much much better than last year & it showed in 2nd. coach at s aiken has done a much better job than the former one

pk seemed deserved to me
Girls are working hard. We've got three with 20 or more points and two keepers that average less than .75 goals a game. Tough defensive crew that have grown up a lot since 2007. Oh, and a bleacher full of good folks that would give ya the shirt off their or the chicken wing off their plate
