Good subject on guys side. Who do you think are some of the most under-rated teams?

Spring Valley

i agree with svhs being a sleeper team and they do have enough talent to make a strong run. they would be even be stronger if the schsl would have allowed k tryon to play.

imo, very bad call by the schsl not to let her play. seems the schsl should look in to other ways to oversee soccer and other related sports that function differently from football.

Why can she not play? What was the violation?

Isn't there a Florence team you'd like to mention

I think they are deserving in this thread!

there was no violation and i don't know all the facts. she spent a year in europe attending high school (no hs soccer) but the schl has a rule related (not sure exactly) to 4 years of consecutive/uninterrupted eligibility. the schsl doesn’t care much about cultural development opportunities for students, only football.

Spring Valley is ranked in the top 10, should move up after this week, and is ranked #1 in all classifications (Don't really understand that). Great team, but hard to call them under-rated.

Perhaps 4-4 Summerville (All losses to teams ranked in Top 4 in state - Wando, JL Mann, Airport, Lexington), they are probably the strongest non-ranked team in the state.

The rule is that a student gets 8 consecutive semesters of eligibility, beginning with the first day he/she begins 9th grade, regardless of whether they play a sport or not. Time spent out of the country is still considered part of those semesters of eligibility.

I know nothing about the facts of the case, but IF her graduation was delayed beyond the 4-year mark, she would be ineligible for any semesters past the original mark.

Never said it was fair.

The player in question already had played 4 years of soccer. The school and parents appealed but were turned down! ...and the team really misses her.

Isn't her father the same guy that demanded the "rules" be inforced when CESA tried an "alliance" with a Columbia club.

Well Dale, I might want to mention the West Florence girls, but I'm not one to brag....
Posted By: Coach Young Re: Most under-rated teams - 04/08/08 06:11 PM
I've got them at 4-1, which is pretty good! Are there scores for the following matches:

03/14 * at Conway (1-1-0) 8:00 PM
03/20 * at Hartsville (3-3-0) 6:30 PM
04/01 * Conway (1-1-0) 6:00 PM
04/04 * at South Florence (3-1-0) 6:30 PM

The following teams are not really under-rated, but could comprise the NEXT 12 (or the TOP 16-27). So when added to the TOP 15, they would form basically the top 50% of girls 4A programs in the state.

I would venture to say that based on records this year, and opponents to come, the top 6 or so of these teams could move into the top 15 at some point during the season and are also capable of advancing to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I am sure the girls on these teams like the recognition... thanks for the work.

3/14 Conway has to be rescheduled-no refs showed up
The other 3 were wins, but I'm not sure of the scores. Short term memory you know

Send the scores into kyle@scsoccer.com so they get proper credit. Good teams need recognition!

What was the RV score?

Spartanburg girls when they are healthy are scary. record is deflated by injury affected losses.

Since someone asked, here is an attempt at the Girls AAA NEXT 7 (or TOP 16-22) which would again compromise approximately the top 50% (22 out of 44) of AAA girls soccer teams in the state

2008 SCHSSA GIRLS AAA TOP 16-22 - Week 1 Rankings

16. Wade Hampton (Greenville)
17. AC Flora
18. Blythewood
19. Travelers Rest
20. Belton-Honea Path - BHP
21. Seneca
22. Bluffton

Here it seems the top 5-6 squads are all capable of being ranked in the TOP 15 at some point in the remainder of the season, and have the potential to make it to the second round of the playoffs.
