After a war yesterday, I would be remiss if I didn't pay the ultimate tribute to Coach Andy Robinson at Eastside, his assistant coaches, and his team.

Coach Robinson has taken the time this year to help me with being a better coach, to give me his ACL prevention program (no ACL's this year vs. 7 last year), offer his time and advice every time I needed it. He has kind words every conversation, does this the way we all should, and has the respect of his players and anyone who knows him.

His team is first-class. His kids will beat you, but do it with respect and class. You have our respect.

Thanks for setting the bar where you have. We can all learn from those who are better at this than we are.

Maybe we should recognize more like this on this forum. Positive never hurts.

Andy Bean, coach at Lugoff-Elgin, who has enough interest to have a large varsity and JV squad, several assistants, and runs a first-class and still-growing tournament. He spent every second making sure everyone else was being taken care of. Recognized me during a scouting mission in Columbia and we had a great conversation. First class guy, first class coach. Will be a force in Region III.

Hank Deer, North Augusta. Could have won every game in our tournament by any margin, yet played possession, played with 8 if memory serves in a game, and was complimentary to everyone. Obviously humbly and highly successful. Made all of us feel happy to be involved with soccer.

ROH,

Can you possibly share the ACL prevention program? I am sure that everyone would be interested in having it. Or is there an email we could get for Coach Robinson to see if he would be willing to share?

I second the motion on Coach Bean.

Blythewood girls for going out of their way to come over to the other team's bench to shake an injured player's hand after the game against Dreher.

ROH, I would definitely have to agree with you on Hank Deer. He could have easily embarassed us all at the tournament, but yet still had his team play with class. And you are right...he did make us all appreciate being part of the soccer community...overall, he is a great guy.

Tony King, Blythewood HS Girls, is definitely a class act. And you can see it from him and his team. He always shows respect for the game, the players, the coaching staffs, the parents (even though they don't always deserve it).... everyone involved.

Even though his keeper did ruin my only scoring chance against him so far this season, I would have to say that his players play the game with class, and show respect to all involved (just as he does).

He has definitely made great strides with his team over the past few years, and he is going to be a threat for 4A next year, for sure!

Having had the privilege to Coach with Andy Robinson for the past 6 years at Eastide, I would like to humbly say thank you to ROH for his kind words. Andy is a man of integrity and character so thank you for acknowledging that about him. ROH was very helpful to us last night so I would say express thanks to him for helping us as well. Andy has instilled in our team and staff that no matter what, "we win with class and lose with class" and it's second nature for our team to treat others the way we want to be treated. It was a very good game last night, and we commend Blue Ridge on growing their program and challenging all the teams in the tough region they are in.

Thanks AV. I enjoyed helping the young man try to get power at The Ridge so that he could do his job. He was a cool kid. I used to do a little of that when I was his age too. Part of being a coach is showing the young ones who want to do well that you appreciate them trying to.

Eastside's soccer program, their coach, and their players were the model we used. We're pretty close, but you guys have done it for a long, long time.

Eastside, and Coach Robinson, are just first class.

Thank you for the nice comments about Blue Ridge. It's a great place.

Watched Blythewood. Great, great facility. Their kids play with passion. The come after you. That tells you their coach is first class.

Coach Tony - you must be very good. Maybe great. I'll give you great.

He IS, he coached my daughter last fall for club (she is at SV), and the club team ended up #3, Last HS season Blythewood started at the bottom of the ranks, and I think only lost to Riverside in state finals. Great coach, great bunch of girls...He is a Class Act!

I stand corrected, not state finals, but 3 round, and they did lose to Riverside.

You are forgiven. Sometimes after you get whomped by Riverside it is hard for the memory to work. It's called a concussion.

Speaking of Class Acts, how come no one else has placed Terry Archenhold from Riverside on this list? Are we the only ones getting whalloped by those ladies every year? I think not.

Terry does everything first class. He always makes you feel better, always has kind things to say, never ever runs the score up. Watch his 8-0 games, and you will see Sarah with one assist. Watch her in state championships, you will see more.

I believe that they have been in almost every girls' state championship game, and that every one has had either Eastside or Riverside in it. First class coach, first class program, first class players. They have more championship rings than I have kids.

Always first class.
