Dale, Craig has learned from you my friend. He is one with the data Matrix now! You have created a monster that cannot be destroyed!!!

Craig, I am impressed!

Also, it's a shame that some of these schools cannot report scores. Are we to believe that James Island has only played 4 region matches, or South Florence only two. In the information age, it would be nice if schools took the time to provide information.

That's like Westside only reporting their Lauren's scores and claiming to be 2-0 in the region. I think Hanna, Wren, and Greenwood would all be a bit miffed at such a gimmick.

SO IF PLAYOFFS WERE HELD TODAY..FIRST ROUND LOWER STATE SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS:

DUTCH FORK v BEAUFORT
FORT DORCHESTER v RIDGEVIEW
JAMES ISLAND v S. FLORENCE
SPRING VALLEY v WEST ASHLEY
SUMMERVILLE v RNE
SUMTER v BERKELEY
WANDO v CONWAY
WEST FLORENCE v STRATFORD

FIRST ROUND UPPER STATE SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS:

DORMAN v CLOVER
FORT MILL v BYRNES
HANNA v SOUTH AIKEN
LEXINGTON v Region 1 # 4 H
MAULDIN v NATION FORD
N. AUGUSTA v GREENWOOD
NORTHWESTERN v SPARTANBURG

SA 5-4
Irmo/NA 4-4
Aiken 4-5

FM is looking towards S burg while

Posted By: CJ Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/26/08 12:28 PM
Dale, let me see if I have this straight...

Region 4 tiebreakers are head to head, points for beating region teams (6 for #1, 5 for #2), and then non region record. If two tie for the fourth spot, a play in game is allowed, right?

That is one crazy tiebreak system! Not much incentive to play a hard non-conference schedule, but I digress.

Soooo, if SA beats Aiken and NA sweeps Irmo the order is
2. NA
3. SA
4. Irmo

If SA beats Aiken and Irmo sweeps NA then:
2. Irmo
3. SA
4. NA

If SA beats Aiken and Irmo/NA split then:
2. SA
3. NA
4. Irmo

If SA loses to Aiken and Irmo sweeps, SA goes third over NA on non region tie breaker. If they split, SA goes fourth losing tie breaker with Irmo. If NA sweeps then SA goes third.

Does that sound right?
Posted By: Coach Young Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/26/08 04:41 PM
Ron, is that correct? I think Aiken is still in if NA sweeps and they beat SA.

I've got Byrnes by 2, but I say Clover has my vote for "Most attention given to team" come playoffs.

I think Clover played Byrnes this year already and did

well against them. Don't remember the score.
PS, Clover played N Western last night missing 3 starters for various reasons.

We shall see. You guys may be right but as I recall, all the teams were going full out. Didn't see anyone jogging and the coaches were not in the lounge chairs. There were no golf clubs on the field.

PS, you guys simply hold Ft.Mill in much higher status than I do. I'm telling you we had them by the xxxxx twice. But the did win the games.

I think you can do it in the first round of the state playoffs.
Posted By: Hard Headed Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/27/08 01:12 PM
hey fartkas,
you may be right that ft mill is not as good as they have been in the past but still very close.i think they beat clover 2 times.i have watched ft mill several times this year and they have been behind on a few of those occasions.they always seem to come back.that shows you the heart of the kids and the ability of the coach.if what you are saying about the 2 clover losses to ft mill is true then it seems your team has the opposite going on.the word i always used as a kid was "CHOKED".the question is whos fault is it when a team chokes? i bet your team got out coached. you also lost to the exspansion nation ford team.i guess half your team was hurt then also.you have a good group of girls in clover they have a good chance of winning the region the next 2 years so stop making excuses for their losses.it is starting to look bad.
Posted By: Shibumi Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/27/08 01:36 PM
Farkas: I hold Fort Mill in high status -- I'll tell you why. Over the years, what I've seen is that Fort Mill has a coach that every year gets those kids to play better with each game. Thus, Fort Mill gets stronger during the year and is usually a force in the playoffs. Secondly, while there are many excellent players over there, I think that senior Ashleigh Sheets is the cornerstone of that team this year -- and I think that the coach shifting her around on the field strategically combined with her lack of ego and willingness to do whatever it takes to help that team is one of the reasons that more than a few teams have thought that they had Fort Mill beaten before they got surprised.

None of this is meant to be critical of any other team, particularly Clover, who I haven't seen play. I'm sure that Clover is excellent. This is just to explain perhaps why there are a few of us who particularly respect Fort Mill -- especially in the playoffs.

did I make excuese? I think not. I gave F Mill credit for winning the games. (heck the haven't lost over here in 4 years) However, you guys all think FM is made of stainless steel because they've kicked butt in this region for a long time. All I'm saying is but the for 3 pks in the last two years, then Clover goes 3-0 against them instead of 0-3. Well, if that is an excuse it is also a fact and sometimes the FACTS are hard to swallow. I hate those facts but you Jimbo need to also accept them. Good luck to Ft. Mill. If they are healthy they should win the first game. Farkas,

Jimbo, huh? are we speaking of the person on this site or the coach at FM? You seem to have a beef with all of FM. Maybe you are the coach (or volunteer assistant) at Clover that has apparently been badly outcoached? ( Seeing as how you are so defensive) Maybe you could schedule yourself into the Viking Cup or FM Invitational. If you want respect, those 2 tournaments would give you some respect.

Dang man.....for someone with no vested interest this is the second time in the recent past you've jumped in on a Clover-FM thread with what could be perceived as negative comments about Clover?

I don't think anyone thinks Clover was outcoached. I think most people think Ashleigh Sheets is a fabulous player that Clover wasn't able to handle.

Both schools are well coached and are excellent teams. Good luck to both in the playoffs.
Posted By: Cesar Robles Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/28/08 03:31 PM
I have to agree with BD.... both teams are quality sides and well coached. Having played both, Region 2 should get ready for four quality matches.
I do wish posters would stop saying negative comments about both teams. I just had a battle with Clover with both teams having quality chances. Clover ended up with the win 1-0 and the better team that night. Good luck to Region 3, I know we will represent our region well.
Posted By: cid0000 Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/28/08 03:35 PM
And, Big Daddy, on multiple occasion, I have said that I believe Clover to be a quality side. I would have the same response to someone who was bashing Lex., or Irmo, or Wando, or Spartanburg, etc. Both teams are very good and could do well in the tournament. I simply am responding to farkas who believes that clover is "xxxxx times better" then FM. I just don't think you have legs to stand on when you haven't beaten a team. I wish both sides good luck as Region 2 is strong from top to bottom.
Posted By: Hurst66 Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/28/08 03:51 PM
cid,

I have to agree with Daddy and Cantona. No coaching mistake on the part of Clover, but I do give the FM coach credit for never letting his team quit or think they were out of it.

Bottom line.....Ashleigh Sheets put the Lady Jackets on her back and Lexi Wilden kept her nerve and finished.

Next season Clover will have the best senior in Region 3 4A and that could be the difference in 2009.
Posted By: cid0000 Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/28/08 04:14 PM
Let me say it this way"

Here's the scoop for 2008, Spartanburg is is better than Dorman. PERIOD.
And because I'm assuming you guys know what you're talking about, I predicting that Dorman goes out in game 1 of the tourney, again only if they aren't healthy. Spartanburg is healthy however. As you've noted, they reside in a super weak group with only Dorman to play as a full challenge. They did well in the two tourneys they played in.
If I said this, I would get jumped on. Replace Dorman with FM and Spart. with Clover and that is exactly what Farkas said. Both sides are good. Both sides are dangerous.
Posted By: Big Daddy Re: AAAA Region Standings - 04/28/08 04:42 PM
I totally agree with you Cid. Until you beat a team.....be still.

Clover's day is coming.....but for now FM remains the daddy up in these parts.
