Anyone know if there is a schedule yet and where?
Got an e-mail that said schedules will be worked on this weekend. There have been additions to the list above:
Girls JV- Airport, Barnwell, St. James, BC, West Florence, Dreher, Heathwood, Spring Valley, West Ashley
Boys JV- Heathwood, Ben Lippon, Gilbert, Spring Valley, Dreher, Rock Hill
These are the newest teams listed. I don't know if they have all confirmed.
Good luck with the schedules Dennis!
If we don't count Airport twice, but we do count Irmo twice (A&B), that's 22 girls teams. That's a lot.
Are we looking at Friday night games now too or will the whole tournament take place on Saturday?
As far as I know there are going to be games Friday night. I don't see how it can be done any other way-especially in the girls brackets.
We were told last month that we would have a game on Friday night and two on Saturday. Times TBA
When will there be a schedule? Anyone have one?
Schedules came out yesterday afternoon.
Could you please post the schedule or a link to it.
Greenacres, I have the schedule, but can't figure out how to post it...help me to get it to you. Send me a pvt msg with your email and I'll forward it to you.

Thanks to Irmo for putting on the tournament to give our girls the opportunity to play more competitive soccer. Wando played great teams in this tournament and the games were fought hard by all.
Wando JV girls have another undefeated season with only one goal allowed this year. (by spring valley in the tournament) Thanks again to everyone who participated.
05,
Congratulations on winning the tournament and on a great season. Your team is very good and the Wando program is incredibly deep.
Just curious, how many of the players on your JV team at the Irmo tournament have seen varsity action for Wando this year? I'm sure your JV team could give most of the varsity teams in the state a good run for their money.
Again, good job.
Thanks, Hurst for the kind words. Wando is very fortunate to have a deep bench.
We have one freshman who saw a little varsity action at the end of the season, no varsity tournaments. I believe that question was asked about her and answered for Ft Mill at the end of our game. We do not have any other JV players that saw varsity action.
We played great teams this weekend, but IMHO Ft Mill gave us the best competition we had all year. Ft Mill is a great team that could also give varsity teams in our state a run for their money.
I would also like to say that Ft Mill parents were very pleasant to meet and very gracious after our game.
Congratulations to the Irmo Boys JV for winning the Irmo JV tournament Championship against Spring Valley by a score of 1-0.
Well Done!
In the Irmo tournament, who won between BCJV and Swansea?
B-C did not play the Swansea JV in the Irmo End of Season Tournament. SHS did not field a boys JV squad this spring.
Swansea Girls JV played the BC JV girls in the finals.
Swansea JV-3
BC JV-1
Swansea-3
West Florence-2
Swansea-5
Irmo B-0
Swansea-0
AC Flora-0
Swansea-1
Barnwell-0

BC-1
Swansea goes 4-0-1
I heard that about half of the Swansea ( at least the entire defense) were varisity players that were brought to this tournament. Well within the rules; however, not within the spirit. It should be noted on the tournament application how many varsity players a team intends to bring so the brackets can be adjusted accordingly.
Irmo boys JV won the tournament without pulling any Varsity players down. Congratulations boys!
Nice try Green Acres
Other teams did the exact same thing. Swansea pulled three down to help with depth-but they did not even play in all the games. I know, because I was there! However, Swansea did beat BC in the regular season without the other players. In fact, all the goals were scored by the jv players during the tournament. Oh well... I guess you are trying to find an excuse why your team did not win! Where are you from anyway?
Barnwell Girls scores

Not a bad weekend for a AA school with no sophomores and only 1 freshman on the roster.
That's kinda funny about Swansea. One of the parents told us Friday night that there were only 3 high school girls on their team-everyone else was in 7th and 8th grades like our West Florence team (1 Sophmore, 1 freshman, 6 8th granders and 8 7th graders).
It is funny. There were actually no sophmores on Friday, and there are only three freshman on their roster. They were playing with the Varsity at Strom Thurmond on Friday. In fact, their starting line-up on Friday was one Freshman, 7 eighth graders, and 3 seventh graders. They did okay against ya'll. I do believe they controlled the game. You all did not score until the last couple minutes and yes that wasn't until they substituted their bench players. Nice try again.
The matter of HS players on the JV is curious to me. I also wonder about the make up of teams and their grade level, not so much because of the JV tournament but what I see as irony in the SCHSL laws. As I understand it middle schoolers, 7th and 8th graders, can't play varsity because it is a contact sport, BUT those same middle schoolers can play JV soccer where they could play against 9th through 11th graders.
What are anyones comments on this?
Also, a JV team can play against a Varsity opponent! The whole situation makes no sense. You just cannot have 7th and 8th graders on a Varsity Team (irony everywhere).
Fort Mill is a 4A school and one of the largest schools (at least until next year) in the state. If we had middle school soccer, and were not allowed to use 7th and 8th graders for the JV, we wouldn't have a junior varsity team. The current system works and shouldn't be changed.
Hats off to quality programs like Wando and Irmo that can field a very competitive JV team comprised of mostly sophomores and freshmen. They are preparing their girls for varsity play....and doing a great job at it.
Allen- I don't understand why you are so defensive, and basically downright snotty- about this. I didn't say that the girls did not play a good game. Swansea has some strong players and good legs. But this was a JV tournament and in the spirit of that only JV players should have played. Varsity has their fair share of tournaments and end of season play. The JV should be given their turn.
Oh please, it would be nice to be a big AAAA school. At least they beat you with there true JV squad-fair. However, the players they moved down were JV quality players having to play varsity because of numbers. I think they were being fair to the girls. Furthermore, being a small, rural, poor school district, the school can only afford to send the varsity and JV girls to one tournament each. And I am sorry AJ was not playing for you guys-she is a very good player.
AJ is on varsity this year and therefore was not allowed to play
Someone correct me where I'm wrong, but I believe that as long as they are grade level eligible to play on JV, a varsity player can play with JV. The restriction lies with the number of games played in the regular season, not that they are on the varsity team. True?
WOW! awesome that is just fantastic!
Who cares about JV soccer???????????????????
This is the same guy that tried to trash Kira and her gatorade player of the year award. HS boys and their computers...
I didnt trash her i just said another player may have been overlooked and i congratulated her
Psst, this is a JV soccer thread, dude....so, if you don't care about it....DON'T READ IT!?!?! Just wiggle your little mousie on over to a thread you like...or go do your homework!!
haha but what was the point of a jv thread theres no playoffs no rankings and no state pointless plus who cares!!!
Hmmm...maybe JV players, JV parents, JV coaches, varsity teams and coaches who have an eye toward players who may be moving up next season, club coaches who may be working with players from these teams in the fall, and pretty much anyone with an interest in player and program development and who serves a more useful function in the sport than scanning the boards for someone to randomly and pointlessly slam.
That's my "who cares" list...did I miss anyone?
I didn't slam anybody but good try....otherwise well put old man
Thanks...I feel validated...

Hey your in last year's thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to IRMO JV boys for posting an undefeated season with only a single tie. Great stuff for the future of the Varsity program!

Hey your in last year's thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Year BEFORE last...wow, how did that get resurrected?
Guess that bodes well for Fort Mill with the JV girls finishing with a record of 21-1 (lone loss to Charlotte Catholic of NC), two IRMO championships and the JV boys 14-1-1. Also note that FM Girls only have one senior on varsity.

Note only 1 Junior on JV and only 1 8th grader. They actually have several up and coming high quality players from the Gold Hill middle team, at least one of whom might play varsity next year. The year after that they get the core of that GHMS team including a large group of club players who have gone 13-1-2 in Charlotte leauge play over the last two seasons, winning the championship both times. Looks like FMHS is going to be reloading again and again.
