Lexington defended its 2007 championship of the Bearcats JV Kickoff Classic with a perfect 3-0 mark this weekend at The Cage on the campus of Brookland-Cayce High School.
The Wildcats edged Spring Valley 1-0 in a penalty kick shootout (4-2) in the finale of a tournament where 12 matches were played. Lexington outscored its three foes 5-0 en route to the title.
Spring Valley made its third appearance in the tournament championship as the Vikings won the 2005 tourney and finished as Runners-Up in 2006.
Last year's tournament finalist, host Brookland-Cayce, completed the event with a 2-1 record as B-C slipped past Region 4-3A rival Chapin 1-0 in the 3rd Place Match. The Bearcats have won the tournament three times (2006, 2002, 2000) and have finished as Runners-Up three times (2007, 2005, 1998).
Thanks to everyone that attended and best of luck to all participating teams this spring!
