Does anybody have any experience with violations of pool player rules for junior academy u8-u12? I only see a quick blurb in the SCYSA rules packet about 1 player can play for 2 different pool teams in a day but not more than 2 games in a day.

Would also like to know more about the benefits/drawbacks of having your club set up as a pool if anyone has any opinions.

Although I've not dealt with a violation per se, I did witness a goalkeeper who played in four consecutive games on a Sunday this fall for two different teams. I reported the incident and I'm sure it was handled on the SCYSA end.

However, CRFC has used the pool system for the last three years with a great deal of success for both player and club. "The game is the best teacher" rings true with this philosophy as players get more games over the course of the season. Instead of 8 league games, our players will get around 16-18 each via pool play. We allow our 11U to play with our two 12U teams and try to max rosters at 14 for every contest.

It may not work for all clubs, but it's done quite well for us and we plan to keep this model.

Sounds like you witnessed this activity by the same club I did.

When my son was younger,, I think both his clubs-pool rostered. It was never a problem and I don’t think he ever played in more than 2 games in a day. I can’t think of any negatives. On positives, it allows some to get more games and play if another team is missing a player.
