What is going on with Ed Khouri and a "new" Charleston Area Club?
Posted By: RM Re: New Charleston Area Club? - 01/12/08 04:21 PM
As far as I can tell Coach Khouri has decided that it is time to make a go at it alone. He has helped SSC, JIYSC, and the BFA succeed in the past. I know many are not excited about another club but he has paid his dues. Coach Khouri is good at what he does and has helped many kids in the Lowcountry. I wish him the best.

This is going to hinder Bridges ability to use BE's field (in the center of the track) for practice. RM - wonder if you know where Bridge plans to find another field to use for practice?

I don't know and would not speculate. BFA has the use of JIYSC and SSC fields at this time so that will have to do for now.

Coach Khouri has a U10 team playing in the Lowcountry Youth Soccer League and three U12 teams playing in Sandlapper.

The new club is called Daniel Island Soccer Academy (DISA). For they Fall, they were registered under Blue Crab United.
Is this yet another added Charleston Area Club or do we at long last have everyone, Bridge, MPSC, SSC, CUSC, James Island coming together?
Last year DURING the tryout process we had a lot of discussion about what it would take to get the clubs united.
Too late at that point to solve the solution of the player pool being diluted.
What's the status on a united club?

Alas, another lowcountry team to further dilute the talent pool.

Any truth to the rumors that JIYSC and SSC are not going to be associated with the Bridge after this spring and that SSC will offer challenge opportunities in the fall?

Just rumors right now but with lowcountry soccer who knows what the future holds.
If BFA is not associated with SSC and/or JIYSA where will they try out? Where will they practice??

Daniel Island Soccer Academy.....What are their age groups? Where will they tryout and practice? What are their fees? Who are their coaches? Are they tied to any existing clubs? Who's the DOC?

Coack Khouri took his three U12 teams to Savannah this weekend for the Boys Rule tourney. After all the rain, the fields were in good shape.

The white team lost 4-3 on Sunday to keep them out of an all DISA finals on the silver division. The red team lost in the finals of the silver division to a team from Weddington, NC.

The gold team won the gold division. They deafeated the South Charlotte Gold in PKs during the semi-final and won the final game 4-0 against First Coast from Jacksonville.

Is Coach Khouri coaching or does he have Coaches for each team? If he is coaching one of these U-12 teams, how is that going to work with him as Coach at BE?

He runs the show, but he has coaches for each team. He does coach the gold team. All training is at BE after the varsity has practice. Last Spring, he had to miss a couple of matches due to BE conflicts, but he has other coaches to step in.
