Very, very scary indeed, they look to be in for a great season...

I heard through the grapevine that Joe was picked to start at right wing for the first game. Good job - play well!

Also congrats to Kyle McEwan who I hear was selected MVP of the Lake Murray Challenge tournament.

I have also heard that joey has started every game at the right wing position and they are headed back to the states tomorrow

Outstanding for Joey. We can't wait to hear more about his experience.

I went to his game against Ridge View and i thought he was amazing. He looks a lot sharper and even better which is scary. He had a Great goal and maybe an assist but he only played about 30 min. I think because i think Hiller was saving him for Dreher tonight. I think this year is his breakout season for him and could be the best player in the state if he keeps playing like this!
Posted By: celtic23bhoy Re: Joey DeMare off to Spain - 03/05/08 05:17 PM
Joey didnt score though in the first half against ridgeview when their starter keeper was in. I believe joey had 4 shots first half and none were even close to having a chance of going in. I expected him to be much better. I is very decent because I scrimmage him several times for CUFC but I don't think he has what it takes to become best in the state. Lets just see how he does over the next 2 years but it all depends on how much he wants improvement.

You are the Ridge View keeper, are you not?

Celtic ... Careful how you answer Flav man.... Don't forget you have an agent and are leaving for england soon... You are not supposed to be playing.

He didnt even play that much in the first half and i believe he just got back from Spain that day or the day before.. either way i assume he was exhausted. He has raw talent and he is being seen nationally and i and many others think he could very well be the best in state this year. He has everything. Celtic stop trying to back your team up so much, he tore yall up and he did not even play half the game.
Posted By: celtic23bhoy Re: Joey DeMare off to Spain - 03/06/08 04:47 PM
The people who tore us up the most were haze up top and david slaughter. Haze has the pure brute strength and all of our little guys couldnt body up on him. We also got blowm away by Irmo. They score was only 4-0(I say only) but we had 2 shots on goal the whole game. Only 1 could have had a slight chance of going in but the whole game was played on the RV side. Irmo had somewhere between 30-40 shots, dont remember the exact # my dad gave me) I would love to watch Chapin play Irmo mid to end of season when the team is well united and at their best.

"I think Spring Valley has pretty much the same shot at the championship. They have only lost 1 significant player and that was Davis their goalkeeper. The picked up a player from Holland named Thomas who is great. Speaking of goalkeepers, I heard that Justin Braddock , the Ridge View Goalkeeper, had an incredible game against Lexington. He blocked a pk taken by Andrew Chavarria and shut down Reel. I remember watching him play club this season and he has talent. Justin has got to watch Enzo Martinez though. He has the great ball control, speed, and placement of the ball in the back of the net. I think he might be to much for any goalkeeper to contain. We'll just have to wait and see how the season goes. "

Is this you talking about yourself?

"To me it seems like he picks it up when he gets scored on and tightens his defense up and cleans up his playing style. Well he did suck in the plex. You're right about him shoving his head up his butt in plex because my team racked up 8 goals on him before rv pulled him out. But on a regular field he is a completely different keeper"

And again???

Just making sure I'm following the story right. Stay on topic, though, right? Didn't see you respond to your record setting thread a while back.

notice how i was talking about the plex. I have never been the same in the plex after I broke my cheek bone. And the comment on Spring Valley was written by both me and my friend. I wrote the first part about spring valley having the title again but things changed during the preseason tournament and first few games.

Can I suggest that in the future you let your game do your talking for you. I have seen you play and you are a very good keeper. Flav does a great job of giving some of his former players recognition but not everyone is fortunate enough to have a coach publicly acknowledge them. I can understand you wanting folks to know who you are but really all that matters is to have earned the respect of the young men you compete with and against week in and week out. Eat a slice of humble pie, stop posting about yourself, and go make some great stops.

I am not trying to cut you down or anything because I think you are a good keeper, but how can you say that he is not one of the best in the state. He is only a sophomore and I think (not to sure) but wasnt he the leading scorer on the team last year as a Freshman. He has also been to Spain not many people can have that on their soccer resume.

Well I'm sure he is a good keeper and will do any team he's on a great justice. I wish ya the best and hope everything works out well.

He doesn't always score he is in almost every attack and does something that people don't see that is very very good. He has tremendous vision and i honestly think if a kid goes to Spain picked by national team staff than he is at least top 3 best players in state. I just think that this year is his year to break out season. He has an extreme amount of ability and for someone to try to take that away from him is just wrong. There is a place for kids that are jealous of other players, and this is not a place for that.
Posted By: celtic23bhoy Re: Joey DeMare off to Spain - 03/08/08 11:18 PM
He does have a tremendous amount of ability but I do not think he can be called one of the top three in the state this year. Next year maybe and especially his senior year. I think Enzo Martinez, Justin Watson, and Taylor Varney have the top three spots covered. Some kids just never tryout for ODP or Regionals so they have no chance of going to Spain. Congrats to Joey on going to Spain because I know he is great but think about how many players in the state have done the same.
Posted By: wkgod7 Re: Joey DeMare off to Spain - 03/09/08 02:23 AM
The thing is there has been like 3 players max that have gone out of the country to play soccer at that high level. None of those players have. And also you do not have to be part of ODP to get selected to go play with the region/national team. So yes, there is a HUGE chance to be selected to go to Spain. I am friends with Joey's coach and he got selected from club play because he was doing Very well in premier league and was top 5 with stats. So celtic, you need to stop hating on Joey he is an amazing talent.. Who are you to say people are better than him when he has accomplished much more.
My picks are 1.Enzo, 2.Joey, 3.Danny, 4.Alex, 5.Justin, and maybe 6.Kyle from Irmo.
