Start saving now for the world's most spectacular soccer tournament! South Africa hosted this past summer. Brazil will host in 2014.

Candidates
2018 - Belgium/Netherlands, England, Portugal/Spain, Russia
2022 - Australia, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, United States

England's bid was knocked out in the First Round and that country will not have an opportunity to host until 2030 at the earliest.

Later today, the BBC suggests that FIFA will release the voting patterns after we are done and dusted. That's a first, and a step towards transparency.
it will be 200 degrees in the shade in 2022
It's ridiculous. FIFA cares more about "legacy" than who's actually fit to hold the WC--have Qatar even been in a World Cup? Do they even have an NT? I hope Blatter drowns in his bathtub of oil money.
Watching a science video in class today...they just described Qatar as one of the hottest and driest places on Earth. Nice.
And as a tourist I'm not much interested in going to either of those places. Will fans follow their teams?
Russia makes sense.....Qatar, not a lick.

I would have thought US or Australia in 2022. Would love to hear the justification for Qatar.....stadiums, practice facilities, etc etc etc.

Asia (China) in 2026 and then back to Europe for 2030?
Qatar is in the same confederation as China. The same confederation can't host successive World Cups, so China can't host in 2026.

2010 - Africa
2014 - South America
2018 - Europe
2022 - Asia

Looks like the U.S./Australia front runners for 2026.
By 2030, do you think FIFA would have forgotten about that BBC documentary?
Qatar Stadia - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/02/2022-world-cup-stadiums_n_791127.html
If the Low Country ever becomes a host site, maybe we can get some locals to fashion a stadium out of sweet grass.
Qatar barely has any air conditioners as it is. Something is amiss at the Circle K
The kind of money that Qatar wil have to spend only means one thing...... gasoline prices are going to be over 3/gallon soon.

After all someone has to pay for it... you don't think the local sheikh is going to loose money do you?
can women play soccer in qatar?
or drive, go to college?
i'm pretty sure that qatar is fairly up to date on women's rights. i can't say the same about drinking, though.
The proximity of a high-visibility event such as the 2022 World Cup to the world's jihadist states certainly gives me pause. Money talks; common sense walks.
