Garbanzo leads #9 Chants over Gamecocks

Northwestern HS alum Ricky Garbanzo powers Chanticleers to 3-2 victory over South Carolina
An outstanding performance by Ricky and company against a very talented USC squad.
Manchester, I'd venture to say that, as talented as USC may be, its record points to some other kind of disconnect. Injuries? Attitude? Youth? You guys tell me.

How talented could a 4-10-2 team be? SC has given up goals galore this year!

I'd say CCU had a lot to do with that outcome!
Then again, CCU had nothing to do with a come-from-ahead loss to Wofford. In general, when you give up a lot of goals, either your physical talent/presence isn't sufficient (for whatever reason), or you lack teamwide commitment and discipline.
Both are correctable.

But will it be correctable. Is it the talent Berson has recruited? Is it the type of soccer he plays or his coaching style? This season has been an embarrassment for USC. Berson is a great guy and has done a lot for USC. A great coach has to know when it is time.
I'm not ready to make that statement quite yet. I have a pretty good idea what they brought in for '11 and '12, what they're adding in '13. In theory, some very good players. Some could even be game-changers.
I also sense that there may be some modest transition in style of play, although it's not always easy for a long-time, highly successful guy to make those changes.
Finally, and I'm not going overboard on this one either, the staff makeup and chemistry have changed.
