Yea I heard that...any clue how long for, I hope he is gonna play when I go see US vs Jamicia on April 11th. Is it minor?

Unfortunatly now along with Donovan is Frankie Hedjuk (hamstring) not playing on wensday
Posted By: ghssoccer10 Re: US vs Germany - 03/23/06 05:56 AM
it seems like germany has a full squad.. the US has a few european players but not the full squad.. im looking foward to watchin the game still .. i hope the US can suprise even w/o a full squad
Posted By: WhatDoesItMatter Re: US vs Germany - 03/22/06 06:34 PM
yea if US loses this game it hurts our momentuem but doesnt really matter all that much. We are definitly not using our best squad. Bruce Area said himself "It is not about a win but about how well we play against the German's". I still hope we can pull a win off, I think Keller is gonna have a really big game. I wish Donovan was playing because I would like to see him against Kahn, he is awsome.

Prediction:
US: 1 (Josh Wolff)
Ger: 0 (after about 3 huge saves by Keller)

If US is to win they really need Keller to have a clean sheet.

im gonna say 1-1 and e. johnson gets the goal

Half 0-0

Germany dominated the first 12 mins then USA started to hit the ball around and make some chances. Germany was strong the entire 1st half, very physical team. USA comitted way to many fouls near Kellers box. Some questionable calls like the yellow given to Zavagnin and the foul on Ching in Germanys box (should have gone the other way or no call at all).

USA had some good chances by a break by Convey who beat one defender but was blocked by the second on a shot in Germanys box. Conrad also had a chance on a shot but I dont think he was expecting it being a defender and all, he miss hit his shot.

Very intense game more to come after the second half.

78:43 Germany scores 4th goal (4-0 Germany)

at this point i really start to miss onyeu (however you spell it) after the last 2 goals scored off defensive mistakes. 2nd goal was a nice goal rip off a half volley from about 20 yards. First goal was a free kick put in by Germany, Keller got caught not knowing whether it was gonna be tipped or not and it went right in the side panel.

85th minute 4-1 Cherundolo

Hits it from about 70 yards out to eddie johnson who collides with kahn trying to head the ball, it goes over him and rolls in the goal. Pretty strange goal but pretty awsome.

we got our A** handed to us
Posted By: Lowerstate4A Re: US vs Germany - 03/22/06 09:27 PM
Germany did have their full squad basically and we did not have close to a full squad. If Johnson's header goes in, it could have been a much different game.

One last thing, I have said this before on this board... a 3-5-2 is next to impossible to play in International Soccer. You have to have three world class backs and we just do not have that.

Game Over
Germany 4
USA 1

The second half was really bad, not as many chances from the US team, and Germany starts to finish all the chances that they had in the first half. I would say possesion of the game went about Germany 60% to US 40%...

USA was definatly outplayed and Italy beat Germany 4-1 so I think they have their hands full for that game. Although this US squad was shorthanded.

People who impressed me:
Convey
Gibbs
Mastroeni

People who i was wondering what they were doing on that field: (not saying they are bad just not their best game ever)
Berhalter
Ching

..walk in the door 4-1 Germany.. 45 seconds and stoppage to go. Bleh.

i loved bobby convey...we decided taht he looks like Beans from "Even stephens" and oliver kahn look lik Macgyver.
Posted By: WhatDoesItMatter Re: US vs Germany - 03/23/06 03:48 AM
lol i can see convey looking like that but i think kahn looks like a horse.
Posted By: Soccer Watcher Re: US vs Germany - 03/23/06 04:20 PM
Kahn = Lou Ferrigno (The Hulk)
Posted By: Bigsby, Clayton Re: US vs Germany - 03/23/06 04:26 PM
Kahn looks like the best GK in the game today (maybe ever)

and that's what he is
Posted By: WhatDoesItMatter Re: US vs Germany - 03/24/06 05:21 AM
yea i would agree with you that he COULD be the greatest keeper. He is pretty nasty
Posted By: Bazza Re: US vs Germany - 03/24/06 05:35 AM
Sorry boys, Kahn is good but by no means is he the best ever. Peter Schmeichel is the best ever by a long way. After him and before Kahn you have any number of keepers: Gordon Banks, Dasaev,Lev Yashin, Peter Cech, Peter Shilton, the list goes on.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: US vs Germany - 03/24/06 05:36 AM
I agree w/ Bazza.
Posted By: Coach Young Re: US vs Germany - 03/24/06 05:37 AM
I'd pick Kahn
Posted By: Star 11 Re: US vs Germany - 03/23/06 06:35 PM
peter cech is good but not kahn good, the other i agree, in my opinion yashin is the best following schmeichel but i think kahn would be in my top 5 to play the game as keeper.

the next in line as my good goalies

Buffon
Toldo
Dida
Casillas
Dida
