USC Signing Day

Luke Berson, Dreher

Danny Cates, Dutch Fork

Daniel Lynch, Irmo

Ross Power, Hammond
Cates and Lynch are absolute BEASTS! MacVane, Tarr, and that Hunter kid are also HUGE signings off the top of my head. Another good class for the Gamecocks. Props to Berto!
Great class again for the Gamecocks! They will be a very dangerous team in the next several years. Very young with GREAT talent. Well done Coach Berson!

Since we are talking about instate USC players I would like to take a moment to bash 2 people who were instate players recruited they and BLEW IT!

Jamal Geathers: Wonder boy in high school, one of the best talents I have seen didnt even step on the field for USC after being recruited by them.

Goose: Did play for USC and was sick nasty in the goal when he did. The problem is....he didnt last and is not even enrolled here anymore.

I am not trying to bash South Aiken here but those two had great chances and did not succeed. Hopefully the new instate recruits follow in the paths of those instate players who are currently on the roster and doing well.
Carolina to welcome Top 25 trio

before you bash players, you might want to know what happened...
My understanding Jamal Geathers is PLAYING for Clayton State and had academic issues and that is why he did not play for USC; maybe the coaches let him down at USC and did not check on everything to see if he could play..sometimes the ball drops there (i know i was a college coach and it happened to a player we recruited) and for the other player, i believe he is playing for Clayton State too (but not 100%).
Sometimes kids want to play, and enjoy their experience; maybe that was not happening at USC. Just cause it is a big school, does not mean it is going to be the best experience for a player
i just looked up clayton state; gus is redshirting and did not play this year; and jamal was all southeast region for daktronics; clayton state was #22 in nscaa rankings...so maybe there are reasons they left USC
I heard that Jamal was coming to USC for this fall if he gets all his credits at Clayton State.

Goose flunked out from what I heard.
Both are visiting Holland very soon. Ajax as I heard.
Yea, Jamal did not get into USC coming out of high school due to grades. Goose played two seasons for the Gamecocks, but thought it would be fun to not go to class and eventually failed out of school. None of these things were really USC's fault.

One situation that I heard about, however, where they dropped the ball was with Zach Prince. He did not get into USC, however the coaches never notified him and he did not find out until about May(I believe). He had to scramble to find a place to go to school, and he's now playing at CofC. They should have informed him that he may not get in and to look around.
Latest word that I heard was that Goose was working out a deal with San Jose Earthquakes.....

Guy gets around. I spoke with Coach Waters back in Feb about the Holland plans, but haven't heard anything since.
I'd be interested in hearing how the four Gamecock signees have done with their high school teams this spring. Any details on Berson, Cates, Lynch, and Power?
