High School Soccer Media -

The 2008 North-South Soccer Classic, sponsored by Columbia United FC and hosted by the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association, will be held Saturday, June 14 at USC Upstate. Kickoff at County University Stadium is 12 noon for the girls match and 2 p.m., for the boys game. Admission is $6.

The North-South Soccer Classic showcases more than 70 of South Carolina’s top female and male graduating seniors. STANNO will provide uniforms for this year's event, which will be held in the upstate for the third consecutive year (2007 @ T.L. Hanna High School and 2006 @ Furman University).

The North-South Soccer Classic has been one of the Palmetto State's elite high school sporting events since the inaugural boys match in 1989. The first girls match was held in 1996. In the boys series, the North holds a 12-5-2 advantage and won last year's contest 2-0. The North squad also has the lead in the girls series at 6-5 and captured last year's event with a 3-1 victory in Anderson, S.C.
