In Emerald's defense, they only had 12 players on varsity, so playing 1 over another is not a very accurate argument, when all of the girls played at least half of the match.
I imagine Emerald fans would also agree that their girls played a very spirited match last night, probably their best of the season. Coaches have to compensate for the loss of skilled players.
Westside played Emerald 2 years ago when Emerald had the 3 college bound players mentioned and tied them and lost in pks. This year Westside and Emerald split. I would not say the program has gone downhill. Rather they have had some disapointing results, but a lot of them have been very tight 1-0 losses (Easley, Walhalla, Westside, Greenwood). Emerald could very easily be 7-4 and having a very strong year, as opposed to 3-8. Only 4 goals make up the difference between those two records.
