Mavs Soccer Dad,

It's fun going out of state isn't it?

Emerald girls have lost to much talent from last year. The coaching staff does not comprehend that certain players should be playing over others. Ask any team from the past 4 years at EHS and they would flip out if they ever lost to CC 6-0. Emerald girls have completely gone downhill and will not be able to recover unless a more experienced coach takes over. One of the three college bound players from last year (Baggett, Riddle, Bishop) would be a nice fit to the program. Looks like Woodruff will be the upperstate winners once again this year.

Woodruff is definitely looking good this year but it is obvious that they are missing the talents of goalkeeper Jordan Lawson and the other 5 seniors that grauadted last year. If they can find a keeper as good as Lawson then they will roll through the play-offs this year.

I just heard today that Morgan may have suffered another concussion in goal vs Parkview and did not play against North Gwinnett. Any truth to that?

@ Woodruff

Southside 1
Woodruff 11??

Not sure if 10 or 11 but big win, and not much of a contest. Not bashing Southside but Woodruff is a very good AA school, and unfortunately they do have to play mcuh weaker teams twice becuase of region games. Good luck to both these teams throughout the year.

In Emerald's defense, they only had 12 players on varsity, so playing 1 over another is not a very accurate argument, when all of the girls played at least half of the match.

I imagine Emerald fans would also agree that their girls played a very spirited match last night, probably their best of the season. Coaches have to compensate for the loss of skilled players.

Westside played Emerald 2 years ago when Emerald had the 3 college bound players mentioned and tied them and lost in pks. This year Westside and Emerald split. I would not say the program has gone downhill. Rather they have had some disapointing results, but a lot of them have been very tight 1-0 losses (Easley, Walhalla, Westside, Greenwood). Emerald could very easily be 7-4 and having a very strong year, as opposed to 3-8. Only 4 goals make up the difference between those two records.
