Another tough game for Hillcrest. Dorman controlled most of the play but thanks to an outstanding game by goalie Alie Law Hillcrest was able to keep it close.
Mauldin did not capitalize on their chances and their game lacked enthusiasm. Byrnes pulled back Mauldin’s lead to 2-1 and with an enthusiastic group of supporters; they looked to have a chance. A key player in Mauldin’s defense, Hayden Uldrick, injured her knee, possibly seriously and the Maudlin team looked even more unenthusiastic. As the game progressed Mauldin took a couple of the many chances they created and pulled back with two additional goals.
Perhaps this game was under the influence of this Saturdays Mauldin Prom night, or maybe it was the lack of balance between the two referees, where one was inconsistently whistle happy and the other was on the field.
