Prefer names if announcement made as a whole. Names allow the player to see who is on the team and if still something they want to commit to. As a rule, club should call, working down their list, and get commits before posting.
I think most lists are accurate with the exception of those few that have not made up their minds yet..I see this mostly with girls who want to play with friends or did not make the squad they wanted so they are considering their options..The waiting game..so how long do you hold out those lists when parents want to know? And if the same name appears at two clubs but the player is not going to make or break the team..Who cares? Names..
My daughter tried out for a club that used numbers, but she wasn't assigned one or didn't know she was assigned one. So when they posted rosters, she didn't know if she made it or not. Didn't matter though.
