Woo-hoo! Club season. So...what are your predictions for PMSL, Challenge, and Region III?

93 Boys Challenge and R3PL......

CESA Premier has strengthened significantly with Nick Finotti at coach and with the addtional of a handful of excellent players from other clubs. They will be markedly better.

Columbia United Elite will certainly take a significant step backwards, having lost a handful of their better players to either the SC United Academy team or CESA.

CESA Challenge will be significantly better, picking up something like 4-5 starters off of last years Premier team. CESA could well have the 2 best teams in the state in this age group.

Mount Pleasant was a very good team last year and I'd be curious to see what kind of changes took place for them. Likewise with Spartanburg.

Carolina Select lost three of their best players to CESA Premier, but added a couple of good players and should be on par with last year.

Since virtually every player from last year's CUFC U17 Elite team is now playing for the SC United Academy team, will CUFC have a U18 boys team in R3PL?

CUFC is fielding a U18 team that will compete in R3PL this fall. Their first game is against CESA '91 Premier on August 23rd.

An example of the watering down of R3PL as a result of Academy. Assuming same thing with 93 boys from CUFC.

I think you have to have 1/2 your roster from prior year in order to qualify for R3. But with a few exceptions, my guess is this would probably be the lower half of the roster in most cases...

I have been told by numerous people the number was 60% returning from your roster. Therefore, I'm not sure how the CUFC 91 Elite team is playing R3PL. I thought basically the entire team from last year went Academy. With this team being rising Seniors this was their one chance at Academy ball.

I think someone said the CUFC 93 Elite team lost 4 kids from last year. At that age bracket CUFC had over 100 kids at tryouts. I would hope out of 100+ kids they could find 4 that were close to being Premier League calibur. Of course this team struggled in R3PL last year anyway- not so sure this year would have been much different with all returners. I also heard that several kids on this team were offered Full Time slots on the Academy team but turned them down and only took Developmental Slots for various reasons - cost, travel, Charleston practice and just to see how SCUFC would pan out. So I'm not sure I agree with the lower half of the roster statement in this case.

The CUFC U18B team that is playing R3PL this fall is the same team that played in the U17 SC Challenge League last year and came in 4th place. What does it take to get into the premiere league?
