[....Even though Cesa added 2 or 3 D1 College players to their roster before playoffs....

If the players were born after July 31 1991 they are U18 players for the 2009-1010 seasonal year. It doesn't matter whether they go to high school, college, or whatever. There are high school seniors playing on U17 teams all over the place. I don't see what difference it makes!

You don't see what difference it makes??? It sends a message to the kids in our state that winning is all that matters. It is not against the rules, but it is unethical, unsportsmanlike, unfair to players on both teams, and not in the spirit of the game.

The difference is the high school seniors playing U17 have played with their teams all year.

The difference is that they are added for the purpose of winning State. If you need numbers, there are several quality U18 players whose team did not make it to playoffs available to play.

One of the cesa college players at our game was sent over as the "captain" of their team and introduced herself as a "guest player" for State Cup.

Rae...I'm not sure your reason for asking for names, but you should/can get them privately.

I keep reading how well the 16's are doing in Academy. I think I found the link to the results page. I see them as 7th in an 8 team league with a 4-8-2 record. This qualifies as doing well? Keep bragging.

Too easy GSDad......

You are looking at last years standings when most of the kids were playing up a year. Try looking at this year......2009-2010.

Mama K: I just don't know about the 2-3 players. Coach P thinks it was one, and I think his explanation is about right.

What about the CSSC player that was added to the MPSC roster after her team did not qualify for the State Cup?

The captain of the team is a senior at Eastside High School.

The players were pointed out to me by players from another team that knew them not to be on cesa's team. Sorry, I'll change my post. Not really the point anyway.

Mama K: What are the names of those 2-3 players?

SOS: I don't know the specifics of DOC salaries. I think they really depend on the markets.

I don't know why we are discussing which team would win. The Academy is not concerned about results though I am somewhat confused with this assertion when Academy teams compete for positions to advance for championships. Can someone help me with this paradox?

Raekwon, why the sarcasm in your posts?

Academy is NOT acompetitive. They track wins and losses and there are benefits to success. I may have this wrong a little....to make the national semi-finals, your team needs to be ranked in the top half, based off of league record.

Then to make the national finals.....you need to be basically top 8 I think, based off of what you do in the semifinals.

But for virtually the entire season the Academy teams are all on par. You play the same teams, you have the same exposure, you play the same Showcases. Its player driven. If you make a team, you are in.

The USYSA model is based strictly on team performance. For a kid to play in R3PL their TEAM has to reach a certain threshold of success. For a kid to play at regions, again...the TEAM has to have success. To play at Disney...same.

The essence of Academy is individual achievement. The essence of USYSA at the upper level, is team achievement.

Hope that explains the paradox. Now.....shall we tackle paradigms next? Jk....

Yes, we added CSSC to have enough to play at CASL in Raleigh.
