What is your club charging? Here are some.

SC United - Mt. Pleasant $30
Daniel Island SA $25
Summerville SC $15
James Island YSC no fee

Charleston United no fee.

Foothills, Greer - No fee.

Do any clubs waive tryout fees? If a parent makes a commitment to drive their child 60, 90, 120 miles (or more) for a tryout.....would a club waive a tryout fee?

I assume some parents have their children (sometimes multiple children) trying out at multiple clubs? Does anybody get a break?

Summerville's academy tryout fee is 15..Their select team fee is 30

What if you pay a tryout fee and for whatever reason..The club does not field a team in your age group..Should you get a refund?
I have discussed this before..I feel tryouts should be free of charge..How about after tryouts are completed and players are assigned teams and players are picked up after tryouts for teams..Did these players get around the tryout fee? If so..is that fair to the rest that paid..This happens quite often..How about the player that is moved from the team they were selected to play on to make room for a player that decided they wanted to play after the fact.

How about the tryout fee gets applied to your club fees once the player commits to the team?

I'm sure clubs nowadays budget the tryout fees as an independent item on their revenue line. How about they do away with this (and don't artificially inflate the club fees by $30 - $50 to compensate for it).

If you make the team, your $30 goes toward your club fee, if you don't make the team, or choose to play elsewhere, the club can consider that money as an independent source of revenue.

Also......I don't need another t-shirt. How about investing in "tryout pinnies" that can get used every year?

Goose Creek United has started a policy this year of no fees at tryouts.

I like free as much as the next guy but I do find this thread ironic. We willingly pad 35-50 dollars an hour for training but complain when we pay less than 10 dollars an hour for tryouts. I also think that the tryout t-shirt should without a doubt be the same as the training shirt they are to wear at practice.
