IRMO vs Dutch Fork
Senior Night for:
Captain Zach Acree - Lander
Captain Billy Padula - Wofford
Captain Oliver Nobels - Presbyterian
Mike Day - Presbyterian
AJ Rogers
Stephen Arneson - North Greenville
Kyle Simpson
Just three minutes in Zach Acree chipped two defenders with perfect pass to the foot of Oliver Nobels who with one touch chipped keeper Brandon Baize for the first goal. Dutch Fork Captain, Michael Klawer, responded by cracking a 30 yard shot only to have it saved by Keeper, Stephen Arneson.
IRMO continued to mount chances during the first half until hitting pay dirt when Zach Acree played a great 20 yard ball to AJ Rogers who shot from 12 for goal #2.
Halftime: 2-0 IRMO
In the second half Dutch Fork defended well under extreme pressure, but it was Baize who ultimately kept the 2-0 margin for much of the second half by coming up with big saves when he was needed. While Baize continued to deny IRMO the short goal opportunities, he also prevented Matt Seiverding from scoring a blistering shot from 30 as well as putting a stop to the shot senior Kyle Simpson took from 25.
Dutch Fork mounted a few strong chances in the half from senior John Taylor and Junior Michael Klawer, but Arneson and Sullivan each came up big for IRMO during those attempts.
The Yellow Jackets went up 3-0 with about 15 to go with a Padula factor goal. Billy Padula whipped a throw into the mixer where Oliver Nobels chipped Baize with a shot from about four yards for what would be the final goal of the game.
Wingers Mike Day and Mathew Freeman continued their relentless attacking runs and crosses into the area in preparation for what I believe will be a very exciting playoff run. Great stuff
As usual, IRMO had fantastic fan attendance as playoff excitement built through this always exciting rivalry between IRMO and Dutch Fork.
Best of luck to the seniors and teammates of both teams going into next week. You guys are always fun to watch play.
