At our High School game last night I heard a couple parents bickering about an email that was received from their club regarding next years ECNL schedule. They said ECNL schedule will be 12 games in the fall and 12 games in the Spring. Is this just a rumor? If not how will this effect Club players that play High School soccer?

What club are they with? I haven't seen anything from our club or on the ECNL website.

Right, we've seen that. It just doesn't say in there that there will be 12 games in the fall and 12 in the spring. It says that there will be 12-14 games in fall for U-14 (not in high school) and 12-14 in spring for U-14 (not in high school). It says that for U-15 thru U-18 there will be 14-16 games with conference opponents and 0-4 with cross-conference opponents. It says nothing about fall or spring.

I thought it said February/March with no specific dates. Did you see something with specific dates?

No dates yet. But what does Feb/mar mean to you. Will be interesting to see if ECNL hurts or helps club tryouts. Parents are going to want to give kids best opportunity to be seen and will always choose club tournament over a high school game. I think there will always be issues with U18 though. ECNL needs to handle that age differently

Feb/Mar means to me that it might be any weekend in Feb. or Mar. and that they haven't made it final yet. It may be the same time as the Viking Cup. There's about a 1 in 8 chance I believe. 4 weekends in Feb., 4 weekends in Mar.

They do handle U-18 differently. U-16 and U-17 will go to 3 national events and the National Championship weekend. U-18 will go to 2 national events and only the top 8 teams will go to the National Championship weekend. So, it seems that U-18 teams could potentially play in October and December and play in their conference games. This schedule could benefit players that are unsigned and have them finished by the time the SC high school league (which we've decided this year that this national league should revolve around) gets started.

True. Just wish had more players so they could have two teams without having to leave CESA. If you are staying in state or ending your career it would be nice to play in competitive games in tri-state area. Other than the experience , no need for someone to go to Arizona or wherever to play. But it is what it is

Are you speaking as a Club Director?
