Apparently, we will be going to 52 teams in 4A after next year.
Problem is, they will be putting 8 teams in our region, making it more
difficult to make the playoffs, while some regions will still only have 6.
Please let me know how everyone feels about these suggestions and should we take them to the SCHSL.

Add a round and let the top 40 teams in. Reseed upperstate
and lowerstate in a coaches meeting. Bottom 16 teams
(8upperstate/8lowerstate) would play an opening round game.

If they don't like the idea of reseeding (even though it is done in
2a/1a) have the 4s play home to the 5s. That way, teams in 8 teams
regions would still have a chance.

There is no bad in this. Start playoffs one week earlier, two games
per week, we are one of only 3 contact sports and even basketball (a
non-contact sport) doesn't play more the 2 in a week during the
playoffs. The SCHSL makes extra money off the extra 8 games as does the host.

To keep adding schools without adding playoff spots is crazy.

Heck, why not reseed everyone and let everyone in? The SCHSL will make
a bunch of money on the extra 15 games (or 105 games all divisions boys
and girls) as will the hosts. This will also allow teams to be seeded
on how good they are not some stupid alignment that never lets every region see every other region in round 1.

It would raise a bunch of money if you do it in the 3 team sports that
are single elimination (volleyball, basketball and soccer).

Why not use this as a time to cut 4A in half at playoff time (largest 26 smallest 26) just like the other football. We could seed the top/bottome 26 based on region finish and have a playoff like we do (same number of rounds) now only x number of top seeds get bye on 1st game as other team do play in games. Everyone gets in and we have the same number of day to get it done. SCHSL makes more money becasue of more games and there is still a reward for teams winning game in region by getting higher seed in opening round but a team in the stronger regions do not miss out beacuse a weak region team with poor recoed bumping them. End up with 4 Championship games on final day vice 3.

Anyone want to post the actually numbers so we can see how many schools from 56 up it will take to equal Wandos enrollment?
(never mind on posting numbers found them in orignal 135 day post)

This "split" 4A would also put:

#1 vs #26 with 26 being 50% of size of number 1

#5 vs #26 with 26 being 74% of size of number 5
(NOTE ONCE YOU GET OUTSIDE THE TOP 4 SCHOOLS THIS NUMBER GETS TO 74%, IT IS JUST THAT THE TOP 4 ARE SO MUCH LARGER THAN THEIR PEERS, HECK #4 IS 15% LARGER THAN #5!)

#27 vs #52 with 52 being 85% of size of number 27

IN 3A YOU WOULD HAVE

#53 VS #104 with 104 being 61% of size of number 53

Just to contrast with current system
#1 vs #52 with 52 being 41% of size of number 1. This means if you made a school the size of #56 with Wando kids you would still have Wando as the 13th largest school in the state. Just on numbers not names dose anyone think these sound fair?

A complete playoff decides the answer as well, strength of region is removed, almost.

Realignment YES, Added playoff games NO. Most first round playoff games were blowouts, a waste of time.

The fix to 1st round blowouts is to have seeding and playin games for 1st round. Now that said I will not bet against some second round blowouts but chances would seem to be lower.

I think the playoffs ought to be seeded rather than by the predetermined brackets. Can you change this?
