I have been told that Savitz has been switching his keepers around all season. Putting pressure on them and daring anyone to make a mistake. Wullner has started all playoff games. At half with good leads, for the 1st two rounds, keepers were switched and again with 10 min left the freshman keeper played. That's fine when your team is in the lead and you are in command of the pitch, but not with a 1-0 lead. Don't get me wrong, I and not putting Clover down. Just disappointed for Irmo. Irmo did have their chances, they just could not hit the frame. And the ref gave a lot of extra time at the end.

@ South Aiken

South Aiken 4
Fort Dorchester 3

South Aiken advances to the Lower State Championship and will host Wando on Tuesday after a 4-3 barnburner over Fort Dorchester. Scrappy game. Fort Dorchester converted a PK just before halftime to go up 3-2. South Aiken tied the score at 3-3 about ten minutes into the 2nd half. With under 2 mins to play, South Aiken had a corner/throw/free kick and one of their players was apparantly punched in the #%#% by the Fort Dorchester GK. Guy was writing around on the ground in pain. After some deliberation from the head official, the GK was given a red card and South Aiken was awarded a PK which they converted to go up 4-3. South Aiken earned what appeared to be another clear PK in stoppage time, earning Fort Dorcheser another red card, but the ref opted to give a free kick outside of the box. Tough win for the T-breds. Tough loss for Fort D.

Starter hurt himself in pregam... neither keeper would have saved either goal

Irmo's "second" keeper had been starting more this year than not and Savitz had been switching them without rhyme or reason but both were going to play in each playoff game. Neither keeper stops either shot. The first one the Clover player walked in on him and shot from the twelve...amazing that he got a hand on it. The second one was a rocket that started high and dipped below the bar in the far corner...a great first volley by the Clover player. As far as Savitz waiting for someone to make a mistake, Irmo's "second" keeper has not let in a "bad" goal all year.

The Irmo starter was not the one who was hurt in pregame, it was the keeper who played the second half.

ONLY by Irmo's (or Wando's) lofty standards and expectations would this be a "disappointing" season. In fairness, this was not a typically deep Irmo team.
And how about some credit to Clover?
