was surprised to see the mens lineup & not sure what the olympics are looking for.
11 of the 16 qualified teams which include
senegal, belarus, switz, uae, gabon, honduras, uragay, new zealand, spain,s.korea, morroco have a combined population of 186 million to our 320 million. do we wanna talk gnp comparison? how can this be? did we not inform the committee of what we pay our most knowlegable yth coaches with their assorted alphabet soup of very self important expensive coaching licenses? Do they not know what we pay our presitigous clubs for our 12yr olds? how can this be??
maybe we need to copy the gabon model....

Are you seriously trying to blame club soccer and the Academy for the US not making it into the Olympics?

Uh-huh. IOW, no logical response, just a rant. I don't have a problem with that, as long as it is noted as so.

Its kind of hard to get jacked up about Olympic soccer when we just got done with Euros. I don't want to say Olympics aren't relevant, but they kind of aren't. At least on the men's side.

Are you really trying to have someone diagnose the problems with all the different traditional powerhouses NOT making the cut? Each one is probably slightly different from the other. Has someone sat down with the coaches from that country and asked or are these just more rhetorical questions for talking point?

Have you watched soccer? You know that 1 goal is all it takes to put someone through. Injuries, over confidence, arrogance, etc. can all effect outcomes of the game.

I reckon if you went back and broke down all the different matches with match analysis, you might find the answer you are looking for. Maybe there is the possibility that some countries don't care for the Olympics.
