Not sure where this topic goes, but this is a great article about how academy has affected some of the top teams in the metro-Atlanta area. It looks at the topic from both sides and really explains a lot.

I've heard that there have been some problems with the DA team having enough players for certain matches this spring. Any truth to this? I also wonder if the players that chose DA and don't start or play a lot feel that it's been a good decision for them? Any word?

We didn’t underestimate them. They were a lot better than we thought.

It's a two-way street, for now. The U18 DA side took a limited group on the road recently.
As to playing time, the reverse also applies. At least one kid who chose high school wasn't getting consistent PT for the DA in the fall.
I've said it here previously: ideally, kids ALREADY doing both last year should have been allowed to continue.
I've also said this: in terms of competitive MATCHES, there is no comparison between Academy and high school. Whether there is any relevant comparison in training environment, that's for each kid to say.
