So much for the long throw-in at Stoke City. Despite the fact that the Potters took 2,435 long throws from 2008-13 (1,363 more than any other side), seven-year manager Tony Pulis is no longer the gaffer. Will be interesting to see if SCFC implements the "long ball" of just launching it down field in the future.

When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.

A few years back, had the opportunity to witness Stoke's very first match back in the Premiership. My guess is, without Pulis' pragmatic, hard-nosed approach, they'd have been back in the Championship post haste.
And by the way, as long as Stoke's pitch is tangibly narrower than most of its BPL counterparts, Stoke will continue to use the long throw-in.

I cannot argue with the results of his tactics, but I'm thrilled I won't have to see that track suit jumping up and down all over the touchline next season. Hope he takes Whitehead, Whelan, and Shawcross with him. Bunch of soccer thugs. That Rory Delap was a BPL player for so long still baffles my mind haha

Certainly will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
