Seeing several games canceled because of the rain this season. I some cases, where the games could definitely have been played. Wondering if there is any consistency on this

Had a different response written but I changed it to a more simple opinion:

The life of a soccer coach in a Football world is a hard one.

Don't they have to be called b 2:00 so the referees can be given proper notice? I think that causes some of the cancellations that might could be played. I know our stadium field usually will drain if we have 2-3 hours of dry weather before a match.

Before matches, it is up to the host schools in most cases. As far as a time, I know what we try and do, consider enough advance notice, yes the Refs must be notified, other school etc. At times we "pull the trigger " too soon but rather be on the side of not making a team come back,

Up to the moment the game starts it is the host schools AD or Field Administrator's responsibility to decide if conditions are such to allow the match to be played. Once the match has started it becomes the responsibility of the lead official to determine if conditions become too bad for the match to continue. As far as a decision earlier in the day, there is no time set in stone but 2:00 sounds reasonable for visiting teams and officials to be notified.
