I have a question that I hope someone can answer.
I have heard that a player from J L Mann has already been nominated for this award. I have always heard that the Coaches do the nominating. J L Mann switched to Region II this year so with it being so early in the season, how could a Coach know enough about any player to nominate her for that award? Most Coaches would not know anything about this player. Region II has a lot of new coaches so last year would mean nothing.

Any coach can nominate their player for this honor at any time. Most top players are already identified long before the high school season begins. This is particularly true of players in their junior/senior seasons.

Gatorade does a great job of screening nominees and narrowing their list to truly deserving student-athletes.

Our Coach thinks that someone else has to nominate players. I want say who it is, I just thought it was early in the season to start the nomination process.

Anyone can submit a nomination for GPOY.

That includes the athletes themselves...
