How come most of these players come from teams from the north. And, how is it possible that in the scisa section not one player from Porter-Gaud was selected. That just seems really odd due to the fact that PG won the scisa championship. The best keeper in scisa, mark owens, is not even up there. Then there are other's on the PG team that played extremely well throughout the season and enabled PG to win the championship. This is just what I think.

B/c this is the all area team. And the state is based in Columbia. Right?
Wow.. one person from Dreher and three from Flora. Thats pretty harsh.
All the strikers except one are from Kershaw County..cool.

thank you, ledude. yes, this is an all-AREA team. which means all of columbia/midlands or anyplace that gets the state. i dont know where PG is but it's probably not in the columbia area.

I'm a little puzzled why Sumter was not included in The Midlands/Columbia area team. You had kids from Lugoff,Camden,Chapin,Gilbert, etc; but none from Sumter. You can't tell me a Super 18 player such as Jeffrey Taylor didn't deserve to make this team.So there must be some geographical parameters. What are they? It is a little surprising because Gerald Davis, the State's HS beat reporter is from Sumter and I understand there was an article on Lionel Boisvert from Sumter in yesterdays paper.Doesn't make any sense to me.

The State Newspaper's All-Area Teams are traditionally compromised of players from Richland and Lexington Counties (the Midlands). The newspaper's main circulation area.

PM and Slm26 --
Porter Gaud is a Charleston private school. Phonetically it is pronounced with no trace of an "r" anywhere: "poh' tah gowd" with the last syllable rhyming with cowed.

How did Gilbert (8-12-2) get four players on the AA Team? I'm sorry, but these teams lose all credibility when GHS gets rewarded by beating the likes of Columbia (2), Saluda, O-W (2), LR, Strom Thurmond, and Lakewood. This team even LOST to Saluda (their only win of the year)!!! Gilbert lost to B-L 11-0. What gives? Who picked these teams?

Probably the same that pick all-state. One obvious example: Why didn't Burgess and Tomek get picked for all-state but 5 other teammates did? Then they show up on the top 18. Can anyone explain this one??? Does not make sence to me.
