Northwestern hasn't really played anyone that good yet..granted they did beat irmo, but that was a pre-season tournament...I won't support their number one ranking until they beat some good teams. They'll have a chance coming up against Fort Mill this week...maybe they'll prove me wrong.

You have to realize, any team that is undefeated at any level has to be given recognition. But also northwestern beat emerald (reigning 2a state champs) 3-0 to shutout anyteam is hard, but especially state champions, and by three points

I would have to say that they deserve their ranking, but I don't think they will win state. The Irmo game was one sided, they happened upon 2 opportunities and finished. Also, I think that SA might be better, from the games that I've seen SA seems a bit more dominant than Northwestern, so Northwestern may not even get to state. But...they may, we shall have to see.

I agree with benp. They do deserve their ranking, but they are not unbeatable and their schedule is really not that strong during the regular season (not their fault of course). They should contend for the title, and they might win it, but anything can happen in the playoffs.

I don't play for NW, but I have to say NW lost 3 starters during the Irmo game and we able to keep on track.
Come time to play FM and you folks bring all the excuses.
Just sit back and watch the game....

Some good points made here. I think NW does deserve the ranking, nobody knows whats down the road, that much is true, but lets be honest, if it was certain other programs in the state with this record and position, regardless of schedule, then nobody would be bringing this topic up. Northwestern may or may not be Number one in the country, but they could have done no more than they have this year.

NW should be ranked #1, but they are like Wando and are in weak regions. They won't be really tested until the playoffs. SA does have a really good chance on beating them, but we will have to wait until the playoffs to see what happens.
