I am all for ties during the regular season. I don't mind the 10 minute OTs, but ties should be used in the regular season.

i am fine with the pk format in regular season. it makes it easier on the rankings and can settle if someone is the outright better team. will the format be the same for next year?

How do PKs decide the "outright better team?" Are you kidding. Spot shots from 12 yards out proves very little. [Confused]

I agree with OT in championship games, but why don't in championship games that go into OT have limited subs in the OT like two or three? so that way the larger team doesn't have an advantage over the smaller team.

dreherheckler, I hate to keep disagreeing with you, but as I mentioned on the previous page, I believe Irmo won the State Championship back in the late seventies after playing nine or ten OT periods. If my information is correct, then players CAN "stay on the field for 80 min plus 4 or 5 overtimes," and some. Maybe one of the Heises has the particulars on that game in their archives.

But, I do like joker32389's suggestion - give teams limited subs in the OT period. That should help offset any team-size advantage.

[QB] benp - at the bottom of the previous page, you ask "Who ever mentioned playing overtime until there is a winner. My original question was PKs or ties." True, the thread's title is "PKs or ties," but if you go back to your original post, you say "I personally believe that overtime is good but pks are not. I would rather see games go into 2 10 minute overtime periods that are played out fully then the game ends in a tie." So, to answer your question, I believe YOU are the one who mentioned overtime.

You still haven't shown me where I said playing overtime until there is a winner. Yes I said overtime, i've never been against or acted like i was against overtime, but not more than 2, then you end in a tie.

A PK is the skill of just one person (the goalie) not even the person taking the kick really needs skill, just to kick the ball.

Overtime is testing the skill of the ENTIRE team, not just the goalie.

That is why I would rather see a tie than PK, or like they use to do a LONG time ago, 2 ten minute halves, then if still nothing 2 five minute (golden goal) halves.

but what happens if there are no goals after the golden goal 5 minute halves? do you keep playing golden goal halves?
