The hiding behind and alias goes for you also SOCRDAD, especially on the bush league call. Good luck to you and Irmo the rest of the way.....

Rcates, yeah i agree with you that it was on inconsitent ref'ing on both ends of the field. and i agree with the fact that acree did need to leave the field, seeing as it is a rule in HS soccer. the fact that he didnt make him leave the field only furthers our point that ref'ing was a little sub par.

SOCRDAD, the foul you mentioned on jugal was the one i was alluding too.

good luck to both irmo and DF. probably see each other in the near future.

it was a very rough tackle, but to the defenders credit the ball WAS still in bounds. but i agree, it was cardable.

Mr. M... you really are amazing. I am in totally and utter disbelief about this. OH, never mind I am beginning to understand. This must all be because it was... Leo? No way that could be.

Anyways, congratulations to Irmo. I wasn't there but I heard that Irmo dominated, and should have won worse than 1-0. This is just another example of why Coach Savitz has so many state titles. He is by far the best coach in the state and continues to show it when he takes much less skilled teams and beats DF. Once again it looks like Coach Savitz will have a team to compete for that state title.

benp, the actual restart for a ball even if it has crossed over the touch line if a yellow card is given in an indirect free kick for the team not in offense.

A little clarification for announcing help from the booth. In Illinois, a fine would be administered. No help from any electronic device can be used. Thats from the IHSA handbook. The SCHSL could have different rules that allow such conduct. Not that I condone such use, but so be it.....

Did the DF coach and/or players not complain that the Irmo player should be subbed out? That is where the reminder should come and not from the PA. That should have taken care of the situation at the field level. Although there are no specific SCHSL rules addressing this, I would think it is at the very least, highly inappropriate to announce an instruction to a game ref from the PA.

RCates. Maybe "bush" was a little harsh. My apologies. While I agree that the referee needed lots of help, I did't think it should come from the home team PA announcer. Have seen a PA announcer ejected from a high school football game for similar remarks.

Yes, the players were yelling at him that he had to leave and he was ignoring them. I clarified that just a little while ago. I have never done that before, but to be honest, I had seen enough of the "inconsistencies" for 80 plus minutes by the center referee. He had no control over the game at all. The players could not figure out how to play because a play what wasn't a foul one time was the second time it occurred. At the end, he just started handing out yellows to make up for the rest of the game. In all honesty, it was referees like this one that made me quit being a referee.

Not to mention, the frustration of watching the game itself. I have never been at a game expecting a great matchup, only to see just one team turn up.

To all of those insulted (unless you are the referee), I apologize for stating the obvious over the PA. Like I said, never done it before and I have been up there for over 5 years.
