Kyle... I read with interest how the rankings are calculated

Per your Link:
************
The rankings are compiled every Sunday morning. I take input from any coaches that submit their thoughts and comments and then use a "rationalized" system for the rankings:

1) Overall Record including Tournaments
2) Strength-of-Schedule
3) Notable Wins
4) Head-to-Head Competition
5) Losses to non-ranked opponents
6) Region Record and Finish
7) Etc.

This has served our organization very well in the past and I believe will continue to do so.
***************
Although I am not questioning outright, How does the strength of schedule get generated.? As of the 3/19 ranking I cannot see for example how FM or NW would be ranked Higher than DF or SV following the criteria shown.

futbol,

What have you done for me lately? Since March 12, NW and FM have posted nothing but clean sheets. Both of these schools have apologized over and over for the lack of competition that they face within their region.

Since March 12, both DF and SV have been stung. Just win and your squad will move up the charts. FM and NW square off this Monday, one will get tagged with a loss and fall from grace. FM still has to play HH in a tournament next month. If FM loses to both NW and HH, you won't have to worry about them any longer.

I don't think anyone is faulting FM or NW for their lack of competition. It's just that there is a big difference between playing 11 ranked teams (SV's schedule) and 4 ranked teams (NW & FM's schedule). I think the question is whether that difference is accounted for in the rankings.

Hurst.. no disrespect just trying to understand the logic, I am sure there are numerous other examples I could have used but these where the most easily shown. As 00soccerfan just looking how the strength of schedule is done.

SV as an example has played 5 4A ranked opponents with a 3 and 2 record. That is probably point 1 in the logic. But how does NW playing 2 4A ranked opponents merit a higher seeding when there is no other comparison.

By no means do I believe it is an easy thing to do nor do I question a particular team's capabilities. Just trying to understand

You make a good point. How to quantitatively measure strength of schedule and "quality" wins. Not easy. The good news is that the rankings have no bearing on the seeding of the state playoffs (4A & 3A). Like the NBA and NHL, all teams that can "walk and chew gum" qualify.

just looking at the schedules, it appears that FM and NW do not play that many ranked teams. part of it is their fault, but the majority of scheduling is out of their control. the region is awful. 3 years ago, it was one of the better regions with SV adn RV in it. thats the nature of region play.

Futbol you state that SV has played 5 4A ranked opponents and NW has only played 2. However, esp this year, there is not alot separating 3A and 4A. NW has played both Dreher and Eastside who could both beat any 4A team on any night. secondly, SV lost to Irmo who NW beat. Lastly, rankings are always based on what have you done lately. Both NW and FM losses came early on to ranked opponents. SV just lost. thats how i kinda take it.
