Greenwood was very physical but I think they got frustrated and just started fouling late in the game as a lot of yellow cards were given to Greenwood.

Lincoln - 10
GSSM - 0

Lincoln showed up with their "A" game. GSSM showed up. (No disrespect for my team intended - 3 hours on the bus is tough to overcome.) We gave them all we could muster, and it wasn't near enough. The best team we've seen this year. Although, Lincoln vs Marion, or Camden might be an interesting game to watch since they have similar styles. Lincoln having better atheletes, Marion and Camden having more skills/experience. My hats off to Lincoln Coach and their team. Good Luck vs AM.

The goal scored by Carlos may have been one of the nastiest I have ever seen. Well played game by both teams. The previous accounts were pretty accurate, but I think it needs to be added that the DF defenders did an excellent job all night. Handling those two amazing forwards is a huge task and Kipp Amaker and Steven Goulet marked the two of them very well for almost the entire game and Nicky Cates did a good job cleaning up anything that got behind them. With forwards that good it's almost impossible completely eliminate their oppurtunities. Hilton Head capilalized on their oppurtunity and Dutch Fork was unable to capitalize on theirs. Anyone who saw that game can attest to the fact that Kipp Amaker deserves to be an All-State selection. He's an amazing defender and was able to limit the oppurtunities of arguably the best forward in the state. Good luck to Hilton Head in the next round. With forwards as talented and backs as big as physical as they have, if they are able to compete with teams in the midfield I think they have a legitimate shot as representing the lower state. Once again, kudos to Carlos on one of the nicest goals i've seen.

Did Danny Cates play in the back?

DFs keeper was a bit off when tested i agree, but even if he hadnt been having an off night no one wouldve saved that goal. it was so nasty.

I agree with everything that has been said about the HH/DF game, but do not think that the DF keeper had that much trouble. There was one high ball that he arguably should have caught, but put it over the bar instead. In any case, he kept everything out - except the one shot that no keeper would have stopped. If anything, the defender should not have given Carlos room to make that move.

DF was not outplayed. They created many more opportunities than HH, were a bit unlucky on a few opportunities and controled the midfield for the most part. Chris Sankowski was outstanding, but Juan Chavarria, Josh Ford, Kenny Freeman and Justin Fox were strong in HH's back as well.

What are Amaker and Goulet's numbers on DF? If they were the two marking Carlos and Christian, they did an outstanding job. Carlos is the quickest player that I have seen play in high school this year (before anyone comments - I have not seen NW play), but the DF defender gave him little or no space all night. The player on Christian was strong, just as fast and positioned very well. That matchup alone was worth the price of admission.

All in all, it was a typical HH victory - not really sure how they won, but they capitalized on enough opportunities, played strong in the back and were lucky enough when it mattered.

Pendleton - Walhalla match was an extremely even contest once again.

Walhalla scored 10 minutes in on their lone scoring opportunity of the half while Pendleton controlled the run play. Second half was much more in Walhalla's favor but neither team could generate much offense. Final goal came with under a minute left on a penalty kick.

Congratulations to Walhalla and Coach Preisig.
