I think Phil Savitz handled this loss like a class act. Congrats to Wando.

Bizarre halftime where all 4 IRMO coaches disputed the 2nd goal with referee staff and then some wizard of an IRMO parent went out onto the field and confronted the refs. .[/QB]

i really would like to know how you know that was an irmo parent.. i talked to a few irmo parents and we couldnt identify the man.. and how do you know he was disputing the 2nd goal?? did you talk to him or the refs??

maybe you thought to yourself that the 2nd goal was questionable and that could be the only thing that guy would go on the field for.. because the 2nd goal was in my mind controversial, and was a large momentum swing in the game.. not to take anything away from wando. wando played a well hard fought game and deserved to win.. they put the goals away when they needed to.

btw irmo's only goal by jugal, was so so nasty. literally danced around 5 players and put it in the net.. awesome goal, and good game.

"Two of Irmo's "spoiled fans" - little girls, ages 6 & 8, were on their way to the concession stand to get drinks (just after the announcement that "proceeds support Wando's soccer team"). Wando fans began chanting "LEAVE, LEAVE, LEAVE" at the children as they walked past. Very classy to intimidate 2 little girls. "

I was seated right next to the students...there was no chanting at any "little girls" i doubt the students were even paying enough attention to them to realize they were seated with the Irmo crowd (there were many kids running around and kicking balls, having fun, etc...as is the case with many wando home games) congratulations on attempting to discredit a very rowdy, but classy, group of student supporters...before calling them out perhaps you should review the actions of irmo students in past years...

How come this approach was not taken after the matches when Irmo was the victor all those years in the playoffs? Oh, all of a sudden, we want to talk about life lessons and sportsmanship and what really matters? No, in the past, the attitude towards something like this was completely opposite. It used to be winning was all that mattered. Now it is about life lessons. New song being sung by the Irmo faithful.

We have now gone from We Are The Champions to Butterfly Kisses - beautiful.

soccer2888 and coldhardtruth, neither of you have been involved in soccer for very long if you have never seen a team possess the ball more than their opponent and still lose. CHT, you were not there - it WAS a close game - I think even the Wando fans would admit that.

CuTiger23, what is wrong with that article? I thought it was fairly well written. It doesn't have a whole lot of detail, but decent overall.

Someone is always going to whine about something after a game like that. Me? I'm not whining - I don't even care - I'm just saying that Irmo possessed the ball more. I didn't say a LOT more - just more....maybe 65-55.

Wando did what they needed to do to win - they took advantage of their opportunities, and they got goals from them. That is something that Irmo did not do successfully. Overall, the better team won last night.

I hope we can stay above the trash talk that these boards often fall to.
I would agree w/ Dave that Irmo did possess ball slightly more than Wando but Wando took advantage of their opportunities and Irmo did not. I would also say that Irmo probably had more talented players but that doesn't necessarily win games either.
Cu is upset because reporter got some names wrong in article. David Burley plays for Wando not Irmo. Same # as Prince.
