for an example i played for hartsville when hartsville beat james island about three years ago and yes james island possessed the ball the entire game! and we just had break aways and took advantage of them. we came out with a 4-1 and really james island should of came out with the win. its old news but its dealing with the possession with the wando/irmo game.

it doesn't matter about who possessed the ball more. wando wanted the game more than irmo. you could see it in the way they played. the put away the chances they created and irmo failed to do so. irmo lost. maybe they have better talent but like cutiger signs, "Hard Work beats Talent when Talent doesn't work hard."

I've always hated that whole _____ wanted it more. First of all, how do you know? and second of all, I think both teams wanted it. Irmo was clearly the more talented team individually and probably deserved to win based on their play, the ball just went in for Wando three more times on Thursday. I've always said, "I'd rather be lucky than good."
For what it is worth, this was my championship...whatever happens next is gravy. I'll look forward to the next match of the Beach Bums verses the Bleach Bums.

Wando's play epitomized what my signature means. I am definetly a biased Wando supporter...anyone on this board can see that. It is true that Irmo was more skilled and won in the possesion department, but it appeared to me that the Warriors outhustled Irmo to almost every 50/50 ball and with the exception of their GOLDEN opportunity in the first two minutes (I know Filosa would kill to have that one back), they capitalized on every single opportunity they had, which ultimately was the difference in the match. It was a great game by both teams and an awesome one to watch. It really is a shame that one of these teams had to go out so early because this easily could have been the state championship match (just like last year and every Wando/Irmo game in the past)...and yes, swimmer was right, Burley plays for Wando, and generally the Post and Courier's soccer coverage sucks
