Yes folks, it is that time again. And what would Scisa really be without a Pinewood Ben Lippen game?
At 12(noon) at Heathwood Hall, Ben Lippen matches up with Pinewood Prep for the 6th time in 6 years in the playoffs. For those who don't know the history, I'll give a little recap. The first meeting was won by Ben Lippen but I can't remember anything about that year...,second game was 3-1 Ben Lippen at home in the first round (Ben Lippen went on to win state). Ben Lippen won 4-3 in the first round. This year was the big controversy with an inelligible player causing alot of BL's games to be forfeits which made the lowerstate top team take on the top team from the upperstate in the first round...(Ben Lippen went on to lose to PG in the championship). The Fourth game was the infamous (though not as infamous as myself) 8-1 trouncing of BL by Pinewood. This tied (7-0 Bishop England 2002) the greatest margin of defeat I've ever for Ben Lippen, that was truly a great pinewood team. Then, there was last year's game, a straight red (Pinewood is fouled at midfield and the BL player is issued a red for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity...) gave Pinewood the edge they needed to take a home win against Ben Lippen in the semifinals.
So... with the series at 3-2 in favor of Ben Lippen, what are people thinking, will this be Pinewoods year to tie it up? matching BL's 3 straight wins? Or can Ben Lippen put a stop to their three year drought and win state once again? Pinewood has now won 2 championships in a row, so there is are 2 three-peats at stake for the Panthers.
