Congratulations to the Dorman Lady Cavaliers for a classy victory over the Westside Lady Rams in first round class AAAA action. From the baby blue game programs complete with starting line-ups and team records to the PA announcer's mention of this being Westside's first ever foray into the postseason to the play by play announcing, the show put on by the Cavs was a model of professionalism.

Dorman flustered an overmatched Westside squad from the opening whistle, controlling the majority of play and using their speed on the flanks and highly opportunistic play at forward to keep high pressure on the Rams all night. Westside's few trips into the Lady Cavs defensive third were met by effective and organized resistance.

Thanks to Coach Josef Lorenz, his players, and his coaching staff for going the extra mile and creating a playoff experience that this coach and his Westside girls will remember. Truly a quality squad, best of luck in the second round and beyond!

Officially, doing it the hard way means playing every playoff game on the road, winning them all in close fashion, then working back from a 3-1 deficit in the state championship to win against an overwhelmingly favored team in overtime. These exact circumstances will probably never be repeated, and had to do with the high level of competition last year in R7 and WA's third seed position therein.

But, JI has a difficult row to hoe. They are a young team constucted around a core of 10th graders who did not play varsity last year (or played very little). They will be facing Irmo in Irmo after Irmo dispatched Conway 452 - 0 in the first round. The JI Lady Trojans are a player or two lighter on the bench than most coaches would want and have more than their share of walking wounded on the field at any point in time. Still, the first half of tonight's game showed a very high level of soccer, so we'll see... Go Trojans!!!

How bout how your daughter is a better player than you could ever dream of being.

hat's off to her

Congrats to the following:

Blythewood on their win. Good job. You guys had a tough road this year being a first year program.

Airport---Way to go! Tough game but you guys seem to be pulling out alot of those.

TL Hanna---Hard fighting all the way. I guess those kareoke sessions on the bus pay off!

And to all those that won their first round game on the road. It's tough going into enemy territory and winning.
