If you go and read the page, it breaks it down for you. $275 for the season...a good deal in my book. Travel is a bare minimum with training in their location and games in Greenville. No traveling to Columbia or other cities for that matter for tournaments.

Training - HS coaches would not train their own team. They would colaborate with the trainer of their team on aspects they wish their team to improve on.

Just a fact to throw into the mix: Walhalla High School Women's Soccer program only had one player play club soccer this past fall. The closest club team to Walhalla is Clemson Area Soccer Club. It is a 45 minute drive to practices and atleast 1 hr 15 min drive to Greenville for games on the weekends.
Also Seneca High School only had 2 girls play this past fall, and West-Oak 2 as well. Players that play for these schools don't play club soccer because of the costs and the transportation. I know that these schools are small and may not nessisarily be very competitive but with a summer/fall program for these girls, it will keep them playing with the ball and improving their skills for the next season. Hopefully making that program more competitive.

Keeper,

So for practices, will CESA be sending a trainer to Walhalla to work with your team or will you be making the 75-minute ride to Greenville? Sounds like the program is designed to help alleviate the cost/hassles of travel so I believe the coach will be coming to you.

It would be nice if Walhalla, West-Oak and some of the other smaller schools that do not have access or the money to participate in club could join the CESA program, but I really do not see CESA sending a coach to these remote locations!

And West-Oak girls only had 2 CASC club members, don't know if any other girls played somewhere else, but I doubt it

Stranger things have happened. I'd really recommend asking the coaches of these programs to e-mail/call CESA/Hyslop and see if there's something that they can work out.

As discussed in a meeting earlier this year open to all high school coaches, CESA's plan is to send a trainer to these remote locations. CESA would pay to get access to a local field and send a trainer twice a week to work with a team.

Bottom Line -
If you want it to happen, then it will. There will be trainers available for your area, wherever that may be. Want it to happen, then contact your coach. All coaches were contacted many times by Nick Finotti (who got things started along with Andrew Hyslop). I know for a fact that Seneca and Daniel are strongly interested in the idea and both of those schools are a maximum of 30 minutes from schools in Oconee and Pickens County.

I think CESA is on to something and maybe is finally realizing that some kids are interested in playing club soccer so they can make the varsity team with their school, not the other way around?
