I, personally, inflated 15-20 balls on Friday and saw nothing wrong with this year's Spalding product, the T-3000. Last year's ball was terrible -- very "sticky", but I credit the S.C. High School League for working with their sponsor for providing a decent ball for this year's State Championships.
That being said, I think it is ludicrous that the SCHSL contract "globally" with one equipment provider for all sports -- in my opinion -- for the sake of convenience. Seems to me that you would want to market your event (i.e., SCHSL State Finals of football, basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, etc.) as a signature event and therefore have companies "bidding" on your event with their top product.
