Taking the data compiled in the "SEC Arms Race" special feature in The State newspaper, I thought it would be interesting to accent the "state of soccer" in terms of facilities. USC competes as a member of the Southeastern Conference in Women's Soccer and as a member of Conference USA in Men's Soccer. Only Kentucky and USC field men's soccer teams, since Vanderbilt dropped their soccer program after the 2005 season. All 12 members of the SEC field women's soccer teams. Below is a reprint from the article concerning SEC schools.

Alabama - Soccer: Built in 2004, the facility seats 1,500 and includes locker rooms and coaches’ offices.

Arkansas - Soccer: Lady’Back Field was constructed in 1992 and is believed to be the first collegiate soccer field built solely for a women’s team. It features a field house that includes locker rooms. Expansion in 2001 boosted capacity to 1,500 and added a press box. The field house is undergoing changes to add a team meeting room and a medical area and to expand the locker room.

Auburn - Soccer: The complex was constructed in 1994 and seats 1,500. In 2001, lights were added and the press box was remodeled. In 2002, the drainage system was renovated, and built-in restrooms were added. Prior to this season, a scoreboard was installed.

Florida - Track/Soccer: James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track seats 4,000. The adjacent L. Gale Lemerand Athletic Center serves as the team’s home. The 43,000-square-foot facility contains locker rooms, coaches’ offices and a training room for most of the spring sports programs.

Georgia - Softball/soccer: The softball and soccer facilities are located at the same site. The softball team recently completed its third season in a stadium that seats 1,300. The facility includes locker rooms, coaches’ offices, lounges, a training room and strength and conditioning room. Completed in the spring of 2004, the soccer clubhouse features renovated locker rooms, training and video rooms, a full-service kitchen/catering area, a players’ lounge and coaches’ offices. New bathrooms and concession stands were added last year. The soccer stadium seats 1,700.

Kentucky - Soccer: The UK Soccer Complex was dedicated in 1996 and seats up to 1,500. The facility contains a practice field, locker rooms and a training room.

LSU - Soccer: The LSU Soccer Complex opened in 1996 and seats 1,500. It features a modern sound system and is surrounded by hedges that were installed before the 2005 season. The locker room includes a training room, meeting room and coaches’ offices. The soccer teams use the Charles McClendon Practice Facility for indoor work.

Ole Miss - Soccer: The Ole Miss Soccer Stadium opened in 1997 and seats 1,500. In 2002 a two-story, brick building was constructed that supplied a three-room media area on the top floor and restroom and concession facilities on the bottom floor.

Mississippi State - Soccer: The soccer complex was built in 1995 and seats about 500. Upgrades to the locker room during the past three years added custom-made wooden lockers and new carpet. Permanent team bench areas recently were constructed, and upcoming projects include plans for a press box, concession stand and bathrooms, as well as landscaping efforts.

South Carolina - Soccer: Eugene E. Stone Stadium opened in 1996 and seats 4,000. The facility features two team rooms, a referees’ room and a concessions stand. Editor's Note: New Locker Rooms for Men and Women have been constructed at the Fieldhouse across from Stone Stadium.

Tennessee - Soccer: Construction is under way on a new stadium that will feature locker rooms, concession stands and a press box. It will seat 3,000 and is scheduled to be ready for the upcoming season.

Vanderbilt - Soccer: A soccer/lacrosse complex was built in 2002 at a cost of nearly $2 million. It seats 2,400 and has locker rooms for the home and visiting teams.

Kentucky - Soccer: The UK Soccer Complex was dedicated in 1996 and seats up to 1,500. The facility contains a practice field, locker rooms and a training room.

Marshall - Sam Hood Field

Sam Hood Field was built in 1995, thanks to a generous donation from local businessman and former Marshall men's soccer coach Sam Hood. Prior to 1996, the Herd played its home games on the artificial surface of James F. Edwards Field. Since the completion of the facility, local interest in soccer has skyrocketed. The men's and women's programs enjoys outstanding fan support. On several occasions, Herd soccer crowds have gone well above the 1,000 mark.

The facility features permanent bleachers with field level seating for over 1,500 fans. On soccer game days, vocal Thundering Herd fans fill the stands, giving the soccer programs a distinct home field advantage.

Arguably, the most exciting aspect of Sam Hood Field is the playing surface itself, Bermuda grass. Bermuda grass is the world's premier surface for soccer and Marshall University is one of the northern-most schools to have such a surface.

Marshall University is committed to having the finest facilities in Conference USA and is constantly upgrading all athletics venues to provide its student-athletes with the very best and Sam Hood Field is no exception. In 1997, lights were added to the field giving the Thundering Herd soccer teams the flexibility to host night matches and in 1998 a new electronic scoreboard was erected at the field.

The men's soccer team utilizes strength and conditioning facilities in the Shewey Athletic Center at Marshall University Stadium and in the Cam Henderson Center.

Memphis - Mike Rose Soccer Complex

The 2006 season will mark the sixth season the Memphis Tigers will call the Mike Rose Soccer Complex home. The complex was the site of the 2003 Ford Conference USA Tournament.

The state-of-the-art facility sits on 136.17 acres and houses 16 FIFA dimension fields equipped with Bermuda grass, superior playing surface complete with underground drainage, sprinkler systems and lighted playing fields. Accompanying these fields are fully paved walkways, easily accessible parking, restrooms, covered pavilions, picnic and recreation areas and a three-acre lake. It is a definite asset to both the Tiger and Lady Tiger soccer programs.

"The facility has helped us in recruiting some of the better players in the region to our program," said head men's coach Richie Grant.

Participant facilities within the stadium structure include showers and locker rooms, a food court, corporate skybox, full media services, administrative offices and a conference room.

"Being able to play at Mike Rose enables our program to compete with anyone facility-wise," said head women's coach Brooks Monaghan. "There may be some facilities that are similar or close to Mike Rose, but I honestly don't feel there are any better. As far as quality and atmosphere, Mike Rose is first class."

Located in southeast Shelby County, just east of the Memphis city limits, the Mike Rose facility is also home of the Memphis Express of the Premier Development League, which has established itself in the Memphis soccer community and helped bring soccer excitement throughout the Mid-South.

"We feel like Mike Rose is one of the best college soccer facilities in the country," Grant said. "The quality of the surface makes for entertaining soccer every night."

SMU - Westcott Field Undergoing Major Renovations

June 16, 2006 -- The bulldozers have arrived at Westcott Field on the campus of SMU this week as major field renovations and improvements are underway. The field will be widened and lengthened with an underground irrigation system and a sand-based field surface installed. The project is expected to be completed by early September.

The SMU men's soccer team is coming off a College Cup appearance in 2005, while the women's team earned a share of the Conference USA regular season title.

Tulsa - Donna J. Hardesty Sports and Recreation Complex
Soccer Field

On February 18, 2000, The University of Tulsa broke ground on a major campus expansion. The Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex is part of a 30-acre development to the west of Delaware Avenue and extends from 10th Street to Fourth Place and Delaware Avenue to Columbia Avenue.

The complex, named in honor of TU alumna Donna Hardesty, will be completed two phases. The soccer field opened in October, 2000, while the softball field and Michael D. Case Tennis Center were completed in fall of 2001. Other plans for the development include a student health and fitness center, which is scheduled to open during the fall of 2002, a track, soccer stadium, which is currently under construction, a multi-purpose recreational field, student apartments and additional campus parking. The estimated cost of the development is $30 million.

"This is a landmark day in the 105-year history of The University of Tulsa," said TU President Bob Lawless at the groundbreaking ceremony. "For the first time, our campus is growing to the west across Delaware Avenue, with an expansion many of us at TU have come to call our 'Field of Dreams.'

As we break ground on this major development, we extend special thanks to the two individuals whose generosity to TU has enabled us to make this monumental leap into the new century, Donna and Roger Hardesty."

The first phase of construction on the sports and recreation complex included a soccer field with terraced seating, a softball field and the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The second phase of construction includes a nine-lane track and area for field events, a soccer stadium, a multi-purpose field for recreational sports, a 65,000-square-foot student health and fitness center, and student apartments.

"This complex will serve a dual purpose as an athletic and recreational facility," said President Lawless. "Our student-athletes in soccer, softball, tennis, and track and field will at long last have a home on campus for practice and intercollegiate competition. Equally as important, the rest of our student body will have fields for intramural competition and a health and fitness center for pursuing wellness goals alongside academic ones."

The Donna J. Hardesty Sports and Recreation Complex is part of a 10-year TU master plan for campus development. The new complex, with its fully lighted, park-like setting, will enhance the residential environment on campus while providing state-of-the-art athletic and recreation facilities for both student-athletes and the entire TU student body.

Boston College - Boston College's commitment to enhancing its athletics facilities continued this past year in a big way. With several future projects on the drawing board, the 1999-2000 year brought the following: The men's and women's soccer teams enjoyed their first season in their new Newton Campus home. The beautiful new facility won the Sports Managers Association College Soccer Field of the Year Award.

Clemson - Riggs Field - On Sept. 1, 1987, Clemson unveiled what may be the premier soccer stadium in the country at Riggs Field. The construction of a 6,500 seat grandstand provides top-notch accommodations for fans and players, and the revitalization of the bermuda grass field makes Riggs Field one of the nation's finest.

Riggs Field served as the site of the NCAA soccer championships on December 5-6, 1987, the first time the championship game was contested on a campus site of one of the participating schools in the Final Four. A crowd of 8,332 witnessed Clemson win its second NCAA crown as the Tigers defeated San Diego State, 2-0. The attendance at this game was the largest to see a NCAA soccer championship game.

In 1988 and 1994, the ACC champion was determined at Riggs Field, as Clemson played host to the annual ACC Men's soccer tournament in November. It was also the site of the 1996 women's ACC Championship. Several features of the stadium, which cost $1 million, make it unique. Lockerrooms for both teams are located underneath the stadium, as is a dressing room for the game officials. Teams and officials emerge onto the playing field through two concrete portals that lead from the lockerrooms.

Other outstanding characteristics include a large press box located atop the stadium and it features a camera deck that extends from the press box itself. A press room with numerous phone lines for the working media is available in the indoor tennis facility adjacent to the soccer field.

The fans are also treated to several advantages in the stadium. Concessions and restrooms are conveniently located inside the indoor tennis facility next door. Facing the permanent stands is a $60,000 scoreboard that measures 24' by 16' and contains a computerized message center. This display center informs fans of player numbers, statistics, and upcoming athletic events. Yet another interesting feature is a picnic area where families can enjoy a picnic meal before being entertained by the Tigers.

Named for Walter Merrit Riggs, Clemson's president from 1910-1924, and the University's first football coach, Riggs Field has been a friendly home to various Clemson athletic teams, dating back to 1915. Clemson's football team compiled a 57-17-6 record during its 27 years at Riggs Field, while the men's soccer team's current record here is an amazing 241-44-19 (.824). The Lady Tigers are 38-8-2 (.813) in their four years of existence. The baseball team won 70 percent of its games there when the baseball diamond was part of the complex.

Riggs Field was dedicated on October 2, 1915, as Clemson and Davidson fought to a 6-6 deadlock in football. The soccer stadium's dedication took place on Sept. 20, 1987, before the Wake Forest contest. The Tigers were 3-1 winners in this game.

Duke - Koskinen Stadium - When people speak of the top multi-sport facilities in the South and in the nation, Duke's Koskinen Stadium comes to mind. In a relatively short period, the cozy stadium has emerged as one of the finest soccer and lacrosse complexes in the country.

Koskinen Stadium, named and dedicated in 1999 through the support of John and Patricia Koskinen, is situated ideally on Duke University's West Campus. It sits adjacent to the William David Murray Building and near both Wallace Wade Stadium and Cameron Indoor Stadium. This location -- in the heart of Duke's athletic complex -- allows easy access for Duke fans both on campus and throughout the local community.

From a spectator's standpoint, there's not a bad seat in the house as the aluminum bleachers flank each sideline to allow for 4,500 fans with standing room only areas pushing the capacity to approximately 7,000. The Bermuda grass playing surface is 75 yards by 120 yards with an underground irrigation system that keeps it in top condition year round, while lights, added in 1984, have afforded the Blue Devils scheduling flexibility.

Located on the stadium's West side, the press box provides ample room in the divided press area for writers as well as having adequate space for radio and television crews. Home Team Sports has reached a nationwide audience with its coverage of ACC Tournament action from Koskinen Stadium's comfortable vantage.

The facility continues to be the site of numerous prime events, including the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament in 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1995. The 1989 ACC Women's Soccer Tournament called the Duke Soccer Stadium home as did the 1992 and 2000 tournaments. It will host the ACC Men's and Women's Lacrosse Tournaments in 2002.

The stadium also serves as the site of one of the South's premier soccer tournaments in the "Duke adidas Soccer Classic", which draws outstanding crowds to watch the nation's top collegiate teams in early-season action.

In 1987, Duke was the soccer competition site for the United States Olympic Festival with the gold medal game playing host to a standing room only crowd of almost 7,000 spectators.

The soccer and lacrosse teams enjoy the use of their own locker rooms and meeting rooms. Each player has a locker with storage areas for extra equipment at each space.

Florida State - The Seminole Soccer Complex - In 1995, Florida State introduced women 's soccer as its 17th varsity sport. As a new state-of-the-art complex was in the planning stages, the team played its first three seasons on a renovated intramural field while Tully Gym housed the Seminole locker room.By the spring of 1998,Florida State 's dream of a new complex started to become a reality,as ground was broken for the new facility and construction began.Although the new facility was not completed, the Seminoles began playing on their new field in the fall of 1998. The 1999 season marked the first full season in the new Seminole Soccer Complex, which is regarded as one of the nation 's best with its new top-playing surface.

"We have the field of dreams in a beautiful stadium setting," said head coach Patrick Baker."There are days when it looks too good to be true. Having the offices and locker rooms at the facility makes our complex all-inclusive. You don 't have to leave for anything. Our players have everything at one site. It really is our home away from home."

The state-of-the-art Seminole Soccer Complex includes ticket and concession buildings and a spacious press box, including press seating,radio/television booths and high-speed Internet access. The two-level Mary Ann Stiles & Barry Smith Team Building houses the coaches ' offices which overlook the soccer field,a reception area, a combined workroom, large team and coaches locker rooms, visiting team locker rooms and training and equipment rooms.

The Seminole Soccer Complex, which also houses the FSU Softball Complex,is located between Dick Howser Baseball Stadium and Mike Long Track on Chieftan Way. The facility can be accessed from both Chieftan Way and Stadium Drive.

Georgia Tech - no soccer programs

Maryland - Ludwig Field - Since its opening in 1995, state-of-the-art Ludwig Field has been the home of the Terrapin men's and women's soccer teams as well as playing host to numerous other local soccer events throughout the past eight years.

Due to the expanding horizon of Terrapin soccer and the growing interest in its achievement on the field, the University of Maryland embarked on a project that would bring the level of the facility on par with the excellence of the programs that played there.

The $2.5 million facility was dedicated on Sept. 16, 1995, and is surely a cornerstone of collegiate soccer throughout the nation.

The 4,000-seat facility is an integral part of the more than $40 million of new construction for Maryland athletics. The complex is fully lighted with an all-weather track and Bermuda grass playing field.

The permanent lights allow for commonly scheduled night games. The lights also allow Maryland the ability to host NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference tournaments and nationally televised games. Since its opening, Ludwig Field has played host to 11 NCAA Tournament games, including three victories in the 2002 Tournament, which sent the Terps to the College Cup.

In addition to the collegiate games played at Ludwig Field, the complex has played host to numerous U.S. and professional soccer matches, as well. Among the teams who have used Ludwig Field as their home-away-from-home are the 2000 U.S. Women's National Team and the WUSA's own Washington Freedom.

In addition to the high-level of competition created by the excellent playing surface at Ludwig Field, the complex was also created with the local soccer fan very much in mind. The field is located directly adjacent to Parking Lot 1 and close to the University Boulevard entrance to campus.

The facility is named after lifetime Terrapin friends Bob and Louise Ludwig.

Miami - Cobb Stadium - Cobb Stadium serves as the home to the University of Miami's women's soccer and men's and women's track and field programs.

Cobb features a full size soccer playing field centered inside an eight-lane rubber track. In addition, a 500-seat stadium grandstand stands at midfield for optimal viewing. Leading to and from the seating area is two ramped walkways to maximize convenience for all Hurricane patrons. Four massive light banks surround the field to make dusk or night games a reality in Coral Gables.

"Having a facility like Cobb Stadium is a tremendous boost to our program," said women's track and field head coach Amy Deem.

Located adjacent to the Hecht Athletic Center, the facility is named after the Ambassador and Mrs. Charles E. Cobb. The Cobb family donated the leadership gift for the reconstruction and expansion of the University track and the construction of the new soccer field. Ground was broken for Cobb Stadium on April 21, 1998 with its completion occurring during the fall.

Ambassador Cobb was captain of the Stanford University track team and a member of the 1960 United States Olympic team as a high-hurdler. He has been a member of the University Of Miami Board Of Trustees and its Executive Committee for over 20 years and is the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

In addition to providing a first-class facility for the Hurricane women's soccer and track and field programs, the stadium is available to host soccer and track and field events for school and youth groups.

North Carolina - Fetzer Field serves as the Home of the Tar Heels for men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's soccer. The Irwin Belk Track at Fetzer Field is the home of the men's and women's track and field teams. Field is one of the premier soccer and lacrosse domains in the country.

Originally built in 1935 and renovated during a period from 1988-90, the facility was named for former Tar Heel athletic director and track coach Bob Fetzer. Fetzer Field has been the home of Carolina soccer since 1947, the first year UNC sponsored a varsity men's team and Carolina men's lacrosse since 1949, its starting year. The women's soccer program was started in 1979 and the women's lacrosse program in 1996.

Located in the heart of the Carolina campus directly behind Carmichael Auditorium on South Road (N.C. State Road 54), the field was completed in 1935 as a Works Project Administration program during the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The facility's recent renovations made it one of the most beautiful all-around collegiate venues in the nation. The playing field itself was reworked and leveled, the grandstand was refitted with new aluminum bleachers, lights were added, two convenient ticket booths were added to the front gate and a computer scoreboard/message center was installed. Even more recently the facilities' concession areas have been revamped so they are more convenient for fans. Fetzer Field now has a seating capacity of 5,025.

The $1.6 million worth of renovations to Fetzer Field also included the installation of the new running track, throwing circles, and jumping and throwing runways. The track received its official name in honor of Irwin "Ike" Belk, a former Tar Heel letterman whose assistance made the work of the facility a reality.

The Irwin Belk Track is an international-style track. This means the turns are European-style and are wider than most American tracks, resulting in broader curves and faster times, especially in the 200 and 400 meter races.

The track itself is a Full-Depth Polyurethene ISS 2000 Encapsulated track, installed by Martin Surfacing of Cockeyville, Md. The track has been designed with an outside steeplechase barrier and sprint lanes that go in both directions on each side of the track. The facility has four multi-directional runways for jumping, six throwing circles and two javelin runways.

The Irwin Belk Track is an international-style track. This means the turns are European-style and are wider than most American tracks, resulting in broader curves and faster times, especially in the 200 and 400 meter races.

A brand-new Daktronic scoreboard that is capable of instantaneous results, was installed. The board is lined to the two Accutrak systems installed to record the times of the races so that immediately following the conclusion of the race, the six-best times will appear on the scoreboard.

Fetzer Field has been home to women's soccer NCAA and ACC Championships, the 1991 and 1993 ACC Track and Field Championships, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Track and Field Championships, the National Junior Olympics, men's soccer and men's lacrosse ACC Tournaments, men's soccer NCAA first and second round action and NCAA men's lacrosse tournament action in first rounds, quarterfinal and semifinal games. In the summer of 1996, the facility was the home training site for the United States Track and Field Team as it prepared for the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Some of the largest crowds to ever watch women's collegiate soccer games have been at Fetzer Field. In 1988, an estimated throng of 4,500 fans came out to Fetzer for the NCAA final between Carolina and N.C. State. That was, at the time, the largest crowd ever to attend a collegiate women's soccer match.

The 1990 NCAA Tournament drew an estimated 6,700 spectators to the stadium-2,000 to watch the quarterfinal round win over N.C. State, 1,500 for the semifinal round and 3,200 for the championship game.

Another 7,000 fans streamed through the Fetzer Field gates to watch the 1991 NCAA tournament games, which culminated in a title-game victory over Wisconsin.

In 1992, more than 3,500 enthusiasts braved a steady downpour as the Tar Heels crushed ACC rival Duke 9-1 in the national finals.

A year later, in Mia Hamm's collegiate finale, 5,721 fans were on hand at Fetzer as Carolina routed George Mason 6-0 in the title game.

In men's soccer, the largest crowd to watch a Carolina game at Fetzer Field turned out for the game on October 2, 1999. A school-record 3,825 fans watched the Tar Heels battle the Duke Blue Devils.

N.C. State - Method Road Soccer Stadium - North Carolina State's Method Road Soccer Stadium is one of the finest collegiate soccer facilities in the nation. Method Road was the site of the 1988 and '93 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournaments, as well as the 1989 NCAA Women's Soccer Final Four.

The Wolfpack's home field is an excellent facility for players and spectators alike. The beautiful natural-turf playing surface, which measures 75-by-120 yards, is immaculately groomed. The bermuda grass field is clipped to a one-half-inch height, which is conducive to the Pack's fast-paced style of play.

Method Road has seating for 3,000 fans, and the potential exists to expand the seating to as much as 10,000. The stands along both sides of the field are long and narrow to allow fans to sit near the action with good sight lines.

The NC State women' s soccer program has made good use of its home-field advantage at Method Road. In 16 seasons of playing at Method Road Stadium, the Wolfpack has posted a 108-37-9 record, which translates to a winning percentage of .730.

NC State has outscored its opponents 409-140 in women's soccer action at Method Road. The women ran off a string of 14 consecutive home wins covering the 1986 and 1987 seasons, and then had a string of 12 consecutive home wins covering the 1994 and 1995 seasons.

In addition to hosting NC State soccer, Method Road has become a popular venue for high school postseason action and for prep all-star competition. The 1997 and '98 North Carolina 4-A and 1-A high school state championship games were played at Method Road, and the Wolfpack's home field was the site of the 1995 and 1996 State Games.

Method Road Soccer Stadium is just another example of NC State's overall commitment to athletic excellence.

Virginia - Klockner Stadium - The 2003 Virginia men's soccer team enters its 12th season of play in Klöckner Stadium, considered one of the nation's premier college soccer facilities. In its short history, Klöckner has played host to 27 men's NCAA playoff games, including seven NCAA quarterfinal matches. Klöckner also plays host to Virginia's women's soccer, the UVa men's and women's lacrosse teams.

Klöckner Stadium was unveiled on August 30, 1992, when 6,142 sun-drenched fans gathered for a dedication exhibition match between Santa Clara and Virginia. The rematch between the two finalists from the 1991 NCAA championship game was a fitting matchup to officially dedicate a facility where UVa would prove virtually unbeatable in the coming years.

However, soccer isn't the only powerhouse team to call Klöckner home. The 2003 NCAA Lacrosse Champions, the men's lacrosse team, also claim the stadium as their home field. The men's and women's lacrosse teams play all home games at Köckner starting in March. The field has served as one of the best places to catch the most exciting lacrosse games in ACC history. It also attracts some of the best teams in the country, which makes for an exhilarating spring in Klöckner.

Built at a cost of $3.4 million, Klöckner Stadium was made possible through the generosity of the Klöckner Group donating $1.2 million to the construction the stadium. Klöckner, with headquarters in Germany, is an established and well-known industrial conglomerate specializing in steel, machinery, equipment and packaging materials. Its subsidiary, Klöckner-Pentaplast, is one of the nation's leading plastic film manufacturers. Klöckner operates numerous manufacturing plants throughout the United States, including one in Gordonsville, Va., outside Charlottesville.

The $1.2 million gift from Klöckner went toward completion of the first phase of the Klöckner Stadium project. The project's first phase included permanent seating in the grandstand for 3,600 (with additional hillside seating for approximately 3,500 people), a regulation-size natural grass field, a full-size practice field adjacent to the stadium, team locker rooms, a press box, an indoor VIP box, scoreboard, concession stands and rest rooms.

The second phase of the stadium project, the installation of a lighting system, was completed during the summer of 1995. The Klöckner Group renewed its commitment to the University as the largest donor to this project. The lighting system provides lighting on the playing field as well as on the walkways leading to the stadium from surrounding streets and parking lots.

UVa played its first night game at Klöckner Stadium on September 13, 1995, against Virginia Tech as 3,358 fans braved a threatening thunderstorm to attend the historic game. Despite a 30-minute first-half rain delay, many fans remained to cheer the Cavaliers on to a 7-1 victory.

In addition to serving as the home of the Cavaliers, Klöckner Stadium allows the University of Virginia to sponsor coaching clinics, state cup and high school championships, conference, regional and national intercollegiate contests and tournaments. It is also the host of United States Soccer Federation events and national team Olympic qualifiers. Klöckner Stadium has also been used as a training site for the D.C. United team of Major League Soccer and as the site for the Spring Game for the UVa football team.

Virginia Tech - Tech Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium - The Virginia Tech Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium opened for its first game on September 2, 2003. The stadium is home to Virginia Tech men's and women's soccer as well as women's lacrosse. The stadium features 850 permanent chairback seats, lighting for night games and permanent restroom facilities.

Wake Forest - W. Dennie Spry Stadium - A jewel in Wake Forest's family of athletic facilities, W. Dennie Spry Stadium is a 3,000-seat venue built completely and solely for the Demon Deacon men's and women's soccer teams. Built in 1997, the stadium is fully-lighted for evening matches and includes a state of the art sound system and scoreboard. The facility also includes lockerrooms, a pressbox with rooftop observation deck and concession stands. The stadium complex also features two lit natural grass practice fields.
