Any observations on yesterday's girls ODP tryouts in Lexington?

How was attendance Hurst? How many '93 and '94 girls were there? Were kids all wearing Club gear? If so....what Clubs were best represented, or conspicuously missing?

Hurst,

Great weather for tryouts this year. There were about 28 players for the U16 group and 34 or so for U15. The coaches for U16 were very involved with all the girls and they spent the break reviewing notes. My daughter was excited with the new coaches. Overall I would say it was a good showing for all.

Big Daddy,

I believe the 93 and 94 session were will attended. The ODP Admin requested all players to wear dark shorts and black or white socks (no club gear). From what I saw CESA, CUFC, MPSC, LSC, Bridge had girls there (mostly I could tell the club from the warm-ups). As far as missing players I know of two girls missing from the U16 because of injuries. The make-up date is Dec. 3 for the missing players.

fan,

Will they wait until after the make-up date before they name the teams?

Hurst,

Yes...We should receive an email on Monday Dec. 4 telling us if we are moving on to the sub-regional in Summerville in Jan. or a thanks for trying out. Last year they took two teams to the sub-regionals, if they do that this year they may take all the 90's girls for another look. I know last year all the 91's were moved on to the sub-regional.

fyi...not everyone who tried out in lexington for the '91 girls team last year was invited to the inter-state games in summerville...each age group only takes up to 36 players (2 teams)

I counted 40-some '92's and 50-some '94's.

I have talked to several parents and they all received the invites and rejection email yesterday. My questions is what will ODP staff do with the girls who are trying out on the Dec. 3 makeup date? Just move them along or reject them. It seems they already have there teams set for the sub-regional. I know of two or three who were injured and plan to use the makeup date. Any thoughts?
