Now with Klinsmann at the helm, I expect the men's national team to play to their full potental. We again should be competitive with the world's best.

While I hope this is true, I'm always leary of the "according to a number of well-placed sources with knowledge of the deal" lack of credibility. Don't these people have names?

According to a well-placed source who cannot be named due to the fact he is not supposed to say anything, US Soccer is about to name L-E Dude as Coach Of the USMNT. (Sorry to let the cat out of the bag Jack - You heard it here first!)

Under Klinsmann..we're screwed.

Let's not go crazy here. Klinsman will be an upgrade in coaching, but not automatically an upgrade in team talent. Have you seen the international sides? Soccer players are bigger, stronger and faster than ever. The EPL is made of guys who look like NFL receivers. Most of our guys are runts. We were physically manhandled this summer. Donovan, Beasley and others are skin and bones. The US needs to upgrade to put more athletes on the roster.

I agree with Wayne. Whatsmore, the most disturbing element to the whole MNT setup is that the Federation ends up with a say who is on the team. So regardless of coach, they never get to pick their own team.

So the coach doesn't decide his line up or who is substituted? I doubt any coach would work under those conditions.
