Mr. Wizard, another good choice.

Lay is also a scoring machine

Maki gets split duty, mostly playing midfield until someone needing to be man-marked (like Enzo) comes along or lexington wants to pack it in to protect a lead. I think that is what generates the offensive orientation he brings to defense.

I didn't do it, but if I had you never would have known.

forgot to say that Garrett Lay is my pick, great at starting a quick counter and always seems to play the ball with a purpose.

these probably are the best defenders in the state and all deserve to be mentioned. i dont think they really are answers to the question. Rushing and Peter don't join the attack or go forward with the ball very well. They do go forward for corners and long throws but that is about it. They are very solid defenders but just decent passers. There are many defenders out there that are ALMOST as good.

The three best defenders in the state:
G. Howard - Lex.
W. Moore - Wando
B. Rushings - G'vill
If you're going to count Cates as a Defender - he goes too.

yea Lay is a constant threat on set plays and from the video I saw of the Irmo/ Hillcrest game he does not have a bad shot either. He is a very strong aerial prescence and a great 1v1 defender.

My pick hands down is Jess Maki/Lex. as who_me said he is a double threat to teams.
Second pick would be Lynch/irmo,

As I have seen Irmo play several times I would have to go with Daniel Lynch and Garrett Lay as two of the top 5 defenders in the state. Also, Jess Maki is an all around good player, but I would consider him more of a midfielder than a defender, as he only plays the occasion defense when Lexington decides to pack it in.
