Greenvile keeper from nation's #1 team, gives up 2 goals all year, and not all-state?

Cold Hard Truth has a view of GAA that was interesting...

Quote from CHT:

what does GAA mean?
If it's low...the keeper has three or four strong backs
If it's high..the keeper needs three or four strong backs
Goalies should be evaluated on their ability to run the defense...instincts and decision making

Is the Greenville keeper like the Maytag repairman???

The loneliest Keeper in town??

The reason that Greenville has given up only 2 goals is more a function of their defensive line and as opposed to their keeper. Not to mention that they have an good offense that keeps the ball away from their defense.

Definately not an all-state keeper. He is a good keeper on a great team, but he hasn't done anything amazing (maybe he hasn't had the chance) to make him deserve all-state. I think he should be satisfied with a state ring when they get one.

I believe he's the weak link. Thing is, no one can get to him!

I don't know if i agree with the GAA. I don't think you can really put stats in soccer, thats what makes it unique. There were a lot of goals scored that could have been complete flukes, or ball calls on pk's. Also there could have been blow outs where the starting keeper was taken out and a fluke goal was scored. With soccer there are always exceptions.

rhcp,

I think the GAA assessment was a light-hearted look at the Question

But CHT was definitely right about a good Keeper's ability to bark out instructions to the rest of the team. No one else has his view.

The best way to evaluate a keeper is to go and watch him play

Three keepers are enough for 3A - but only one in 4A??

That was the only thought I really had in looking over the selections.
