Keep an eye on the CESA website for an update later today......

My understanding is that an announcement will be made that starting this August.....CESA will begin offering training for Low Country players desiring to play at the highest level.

2006-7 brought CESA training to Columbia, Rock Hill and Asheville. In 2007-8 CESA will be adding Charleston to that mix.

Here is the post. I guess the options for those in the lowcountry just got a little better. I wonder how this will impact the current dispute between BFA and MT. Pleasant? Will they circle the wagons and bury their prior issues?

I'll be very interested in seeing how this affects the current clubs and how the training is implemented in town with regards to staffing and facilities etc. I know the local select try-outs are mostly over minus the U14/U15 trials, so it'll be interesting to see how its handled.

Finally!!!

But really,
I don't see it impacting BFA or Mt Pleasant too much. Those who left or are trying to leave have already made that decision by now anyways.

And I don't see it eliminating the one day during the week drive to Greenville, to practice with the team, for cohesion.

But it does give some consistency in training, and will hopefully eliminate getting chased off the fields all the time.

I'm guessing they are working something out with North Charleston. NC has some fields and they are just starting a club with the former president of Summerville Soccer Club. CESA's involvment could give this new club a boost.
