The Upstate radio station WORD (AM 950/1330) is running an American football promo that calls soccer a "foreign freak show."

Let's contact the station and tell them this isn't funny. I think it is ridiculous, and some of the talent on WORD enjoy taking ignorant swipes at our sport as it is . . .

Sounds like they are getting worried? The Beckham effect is hitting them hard. I agree it is tough to get picked on but we can take it.
On the flip side I don't think soccer does a great job of promoting itself. A few things that have ticked me for a few years. When MLS was in it's 1st season they did this "you don't know me" "but I did this or that in Europe" campaign.
Now the WWC '07 is doing the same thing. Lilly out of focus face speaking and slowing coming into focus. Another "you don't know me"
There is another that ran for the US "you don't know their names, but they do it all for you".
If we want to be known should we keep saying we are unknown?

Eh, people like that will take any attempt at a response and twist it into an excuse to take more jabs. No point in giving them the satisfaction of a reaction, which is just what they're hoping for to keep the nonsense going. Normally, I'd call it free publicity for our sport...coming from an upstate AM station, though, I'd call it more of a tree falling in the wilderness. If nobody hears it, did it make an annoying sound?

Oh, and one more question in passing...

They have talent on WORD?
