Well, today's the day!! Should be in for some great matchups and good luck to everyone out there tonight. And if you have to go on a long ride, be safe.

Congratulations to Ninety Six - they were the only lower seed (#10) knocking off a higher seed in first round of Upper State AA. There should be some interesting matches in second round on Thursday.
I think Gilbert and Palmetto might be the closest and most competitive. Home field advantage and long travel for Gilbert may prove to be the edge. Southside may also have a chance against B-L. They are playing really good soccer right now. Emerald and Walhalla should cruise.

Any thoughts from others out there?

I've not seen Southside play but B-L was well organized, has an excellent keeper, a potent attack, and good wing play. They battled #1 seed Emerald to two 1-0 games so I suspect they should be included in any conversation about upstate favorites.

Again, i unfortunately don't know anything about upperstate, so i will comment on lower state only for now. Like I stated before, i think Barnwell can "upset" AJ, and the other top seeds should be able to move on. Hanahan/Silver Bluff should be a good close match too. That one can go either way.

If Walhalla is allowed to cruise, the BL is too...because BL is better than them

Lower State all held form with all eight top seeds advancing. I think that Barnwell at #5 has a chance against A-J. Barnwell played a tough schedule in a tough region (three teams still in top 8 in Lower State).

So - I see three of the four top seed advancing next. #1 B-E, #2 Waccamaw, #3 Silver Bluff, and #5 Barnwell.

In Upper State I think all four tops will also advance. #1 Emerald, #2 Walhalla, #3 B-L, and #4 Palmetto. If this happens, it will be the same four teams as last year and the same matchups.

B-L 2
Southside 1

B-L played the first 10-15 minutes around southside's goal but were unable to get by a very athletic southside keeper.
B-l slacked off and southside scored first due to a lack of marking on the back post.

Second half B-L showed a lot of heart and picked up their level of play. They tied the game with just under 10 minutes left, and then scored the game winner in stoppage time. Hats of to southside's keeper, #10, and #19
